My family was visiting from out of state and I had raved about the tree adventure (it’s awesome). We stopped by Porters after the adventure on Friday and was extremely disappointed. There wasn’t anyone in porters for a while. Me and another family came in at the same time, they ordered first. I spent $30 on a plate of burnt ends + Mac and cheese, cornbread, a slice of pie and a slush is, plus I tipped $5 on a takeout order. I opened my plate up 15 minutes later on our long drive home— they gave me brisket (this costs LESS than burnt ends), the Texas toast wasn’t toasted, literally just pulled out of the bag and put in my box, 4 pieces of beans, the cornbread was extremely hard on the edges from being left out, the mac and cheese had zero flavor. After a few small bites, we tossed it. The pie was standard but the slushie was literally the saving grace. I tipped before hand to insure prompt service which is why I’m leaving this review, because they failed me. Go to the tree adventure and their gift shop but avoid this restaurant. Not sure if it was an off day for them but based on their employees and how I saw them manage 4 customers and the food I could tell they just...
Read moreThis was probably the worst bbq experience I've ever had. I ordered a burnt ends and added extra burt ends with the burnt ends baked beans. The baked beans weren't cooked all the way through and were crunchy, not only that but the over taste wasn't good. Their coleslaw which I had to order extra because the meal only comes with 1 side was runny and the cabbage looked to be chopped by hand but the chunks weren't even close to the same size and overly vinegary. The burn ends them self were pretty good. The bbq sauce wasn't great and I had to ask for it because they forgot to put any in my container. My buddy got a chopped brisket sandwich and the saving grace was the sausage the brisket was bland. Paying 20 dollars for a burnt ends meal and 15 something wasn't worth the food we got. The side were thrown away because they were inedible. This is a cute location and maybe we caught them on a bad day but I wouldn't recommend anyone go to...
Read morePorter's offers some amazing BBQ at an affordable price. Their baked beans and potato salads are delicious sides as well. The buns used for the pulled pork sandwiches are just slightly toasted and lightly buttered, giving a slight crunch with a rich taste.
I've also tried the brisket and it's so tender and just falls apart. Next on my list is to try the Apple Cider slushies and apple pie!
Another great thing about Porter's is that right next door is the Applehouse gift shop and Tree Adventure. You can make a whole day of it with the family! Explore the Tree Adventure, then go eat lunch at Porter's, shop at the gift shops, and then head back out to the trails or the pool at the Lied Lodge if you're...
