The food and my waitress was Superb. It's the manager that needs a course in Customer Service and Managerial Skills, and the new Waitress in training. The Waitress in training addressed a Paying Trucker in a rude and demeaning manner and tone. The trucker simply said don't talk to me like that, you're not about to talk to me that way. The waitress, then began to yell and cuss at the trucker, so loud it was heard throughout the entire restaurant. So the trucker, then responded with profanity as well. She then went into the kitchen and you could hear her belligerently yelling and cussing from the kitchen. The manager then came out and asked the trucker to leave, he paid for his stuff and left. The manager didn't investigate or inquire about what just transpired, he admittedly stated "I don't even know what's going on. My Waitress wants someone out, so I'm backing them up." Without knowing what happened or whether or not his staff mistreated a paying Trucker, and was in need of reprimand. Other truckers who witnessed, including myself; began to explain to the manager the aforementioned events. But he cut us off, and told us, "I'm not having this conversation, if anyone else wants to talk about this anymore, you can all leave as well." A few minutes later, some other Paying truckers and myself began to discuss amongst ourselves, in calm inside voices what just occurred. Management then told us if we don't stop talking about it, we can all get out. I stated, "I have freedom of Speech. You can't tell me what I can and can't talk about." So, basically a customer was treated ill by a staff member and when he asked her to stop, she became belligerent and began to yelling at him using profane and abusive language. The manager then kicked him out and threatened to kick everyone else out if they talked about it. So, every trucker in the restaurant was mistreated and threatened. Without the manager knowing anything about what happened. Now, if he were to kick every trucker out of the truck stop, what would happen? The place would be Bankrupt in 72 hours. And the rude waitress, or the Manager lacking Managerial skills wouldn't have a job. 99% of this establishments business comes from Hardworking American Truckers. That trucker, didn't drive his 11 hour shift, shut down at this establishment, get out of his truck and just decide I'm going to go inside and yell at the waitress. She obviously did something to antagonize him, but the manger is sending the message that you can mistreat The Core of our Paying Customer Base, and even if you're wrong and have horrible customer service; I will...
Read moreThe 1 star is for the excellent Sweet Potatoe Tots. After that, our dinning experience was awful. The Owner, Manager and Employees should be embarrassed for themselves. It took our waitress 10 minutes to fill our drink order (2 ice waters, an ice tea and 1 soda) and additional 10 minutes to come back to take our food order.
Our order was slightly messed up, but nothing that couldn't get fixed. And did.
My Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap was not fit to feed the hogs with. All I could taste was cheese and Ranch. I dissected the second half of my Wrap and to no surprise, there was 3 little pieces of Not so crispy chicken. (Must have been a 10 for 1 deal on shredded cheese that day). So after considering my options of weather to send it back and risk something worse or to cover it in ketchup and pepper. Beings I ate MRE's willing in Defense of my Country, I opted for the safe bet and smeared ketchup on it. So in order to choke this concoction down I asked for another glass of soda. Our waitress was easily distracted mere seconds after taking my glass to refill. I steadily watched her and my watch for 6 minutes as she was chit chatting with customers that belonged to another waitress. Then it took her an additional 5 minutes to walk around the corner and refill a previous half full glass. But wait, there is more.
The bar was filled up in a good way. Truck drivers, construction workers just wanting some food and a beer. Nothing wrong with that. But if you're going to have a somewhat family friendly dinning experience there needs to be some type of partition blocking the noise and language. The two cannot coexist in that setting.
This is by and far the worst review I have ever given. I have ate and drank at some of the raunchiest dives in the Midwest. So my hopes for this place were high. My choice to take my wife and friends to this establishment is a failure and embarrassment on my part. Guess I can't be lucky picking the restaurant every...
Read moreI will start with letting you know I am usually VERY generous with my reviews.
I have been driving all day, wanted a quick bite and saw TRG was close to where I was staying the night. Saw the photos, thought the place looked great. The decor is awesome for gearheads like myself. The host and hostess was very friendly and greeted us as soon as we walked in the door.
Getting to the food, not at all what I expected, from the first photo the pizza looks great. When I ordered, I wanted a half and half pizza with extra cheese. The pizza was burned on more than half the pizza, the other half was COVERED in raw flour on the bottom, which can make you very sick. The burned side had a lot of flour too, but was so charred the flour was nearly unrecognizable. I dont think there was extra cheese on the pizza, but I really couldn't get that far on it. I also ordered cheese bread, which was unfortunately also inedible.
I gave the 2 star review for the friendly staff and nice decor, I hope this isn't really the best pizza Grand Island Nebraska has to offer, but I will never find out. If you're looking for great food, keep driving right past...
