Charley's Grill — Restaurant in Neosho

I came here with high hopes because of all of the good reviews. I love a good greasy burger as much as the next person. I wasn't expecting anything gourmet... but this was sub par. The waitress was excellent... for a while. She was attentive and sweet until I got my food... then she ignored me till I was halfway through my burger, then brings me the check and walks away without saying anything. As for the food... the patty's are indeed thin and delicious! The bun is well... a bun. I was asked if I would like to have grilled onions, I love grilled onions, so I said yes. What I received on my burger were three thinly sliced rings... not even a whole slice of onion. Inside the burger, they were undetectable. The fries are not fresh cut like they say, and are not cooked per order. These were greasy and crumbly like someone just fried a whole bag of Suzy Q's left them sitting for an hour and then put all the little bitty ends and bits onto my plate. They were lukewarm and so crunchy that they were inedible. I will never set foot in this...

I love this place and have since I was a kid. If I'm needing a quick lunch, I call up Charlie's and my order is aways hot when I get there. Burger and fries is all I order. Simple burger and fries just like the way a small town grill should. The lightly Toasted bun is a small but great detail that is not overlooked. I can admit after 30 years of going here..I have only ordered burger and fries (the same way over the years) and a chicken fried steak. They serve cafe style food. No dressing up, No fancy plates..just hometown diner food. Perfect food for a hot or cold day. Talk and sit with the locals...usually sitting at the big table in the middle....

We went to Charley's for breakfast. A flat omelet, which I got with no ham, hash browns and toast. A Coke. About ten dollars. My husband was sick and I told the waitress he might have a bite of my omelette. He had 2 bites, a half piece of a HEEL of toast and a bite of potatoes. Nothing was said. When I went to pay--was not given check---and was told at register I owed almost $15. Shock. The man didn't look at me and said, "We don't allow shared plates." Shared plates! Those 3 bites were shared plates?! The kicker? They Never Mentioned They Would Charge A LOT for a few BITES FOR A SICK MAN! NOT A WORD! We will never, ever return. Feel...
