I am a fan of Bubbakoo's. Living in point pleasant I have been eating there for years, and the food is always decent. Being a teacher in the area I have my own little tradition where I order lunch out during the last week of school as a celebration of the end of year. It's my little treat to myself. Yesterday I ordered from the Neptune Bubbakoo's which I have done previously and always noticed its inferior quality compared to other locations. When I got back to work and to my desk and opened that container, looking forward to a nice meal that I didn't have to heat up in the microwave, I was severely disappointed. I ordered a simple menu item, 3 chicken tacos, extra meat, extra sauce and some basic toppings. It looked like a bomb exploded inside that box, there was the inner workings of the tacos strewn about, uneven amounts of taco fillers in each taco (which weren't even laid out like tacos, 3 shells were thrown down and the toppings just put randomly over them), there was certainly no extra chicken as I counted 7 pieces (cut pieces not tenders) total in the box, and worst of all, no sauce at all. My one request was for them to go heavy on the sauce and I got none at all. Overall the tacos tasted like cardboard, I paid extra for less chicken than a normal order, I got no sauce at all, but hey, at least they give you some chips with your order right? Read moreIt is Thursday October 12th 8:36 pm. I want to share my disturbing experience with your store in Neptune City on Route 35. I had placed an order for pickup through Uber Eats. When I arrived at the specified time, my order was not ready, and no one acknowledged my presence upon entering. I left briefly, as it seemed the staff was overwhelmed. Upon returning, I was finally acknowledged, and I was told it would take a few more minutes. I patiently waited for 30 minutes as they continued to serve walk-in customers.
When I inquired about the status of my order again, I was informed it would take even longer. I requested the order to be canceled, but I was told it couldn't be done. I then expressed my dissatisfaction with the service and the manager, who identified herself as such, raised her voice and told me to leave her store. When I asked for her name, she refused to provide it.
I feel deeply disappointed and disheartened by this experience. I will be sharing my negative experience with my colleagues, urging them not to order from this place. Treating customers with respect and decency should be a basic expectation. I even had to remind her to maintain social distancing. I will likely need to get a COVID test with the way this woman jumped from behind the counter and barked in my face. Read moreI have never heard of Bubbakoo's Burritos, but remembering a few friends raving about it where they live in North Jersey, I decided to give the Neptune locale a try. First, I must say the place looks a little abandoned or in need of a good makeover or paint job (something to liven it up so it doesn't look like you'll see tumbleweeds rolling by) and no one was sitting at any of the few tables they had to eat. The male attendant who seemed to be the person in charge of the place really knew his stuff and explained everything about their menu. I purchased 2 taco bowls, one with beef the other with chicken, and they were delicious, but just remember, for the health conscious, the taco bowl is deep fried so keep it mind, I wouldn't eat it although I did sample it and it was good, just too many carbs for me and fried. It's a big bowl to eat whole but for those who like it, more power to you and bon apetit. All in all, it was a pretty good experience. I would return in-person only and eat their food again for take out, but I would just tell the person explaining whatever the food selection is to not be in such a hurry.
