The food and the view were amazing, sadly the kitchen service was incredibly slow. We had reservations at 7:30, arrived 5 minutes early and were immediately seated. I had reserved through Open Table and requested a quiet table with a view. As you can see by the photo, the view was wonderful. The table was probably quieter than most.
We ordered fairly quickly, and our bottle of wine was brought out promptly. It then took 45 minutes to bring a cold flat bread appetizer. The waitress apologized saying they had a large party that had taken precedence. The flat bread was a very interesting and tasty mix of mint pesto, arugula, cheese and roasted asparagus.
About 15 minutes after we had finished the appetizer, the waitress came back again apologizing for the delay due to the large party. My husband asked if large parties were given priority as there is a fixed (20%) gratuity, the waitress got flustered and kept saying that it was not her fault; she did offer to bring us soup but we declined as we were not in a soup mood. (Interesting though, she never offered to comp the appetizer or dessert or anything) Minutes later our dinner was ready.
The seared sea scallops were quite good, but the Chicken Marsala was magnificent. It was literally the best Chicken Marsala either of us had ever had. For the price point (high) you definitely expect a better overall experience, however the food and the views were so wonderful that I would likely go back again. I might check first to make sure they didn’t have any large...
Read moreA beautiful location with the worst menu ever encountered! Overpriced, weird food combinations! Their version of potato salad is diced, almost raw, rubbery potatoes drenched in dried dill! No one ate it. Horrible! They have something called "summer succotash" which when it arrived contained all legumes, no summer vegetables , just peas, corn and a couple of fava beans in a completely tasteless dressing. Next up the risotto. A few grains of cooked rice in a small bowl of cream sauce with dried onions. This was delicious, but completely not as expected! We are vegetarian,so since there were no vegetarian entree options, we also had the side green bean dish which was supposed to be green beans, with bell peppers, prepared in sesame oil with sesame seeds. Completely flavorless with an unpleasant texture. Who can ruin fresh green beans? But ah....i perked up.... They have lemon bars for dessert....a delicious and generous sized lemon bar covered with cranberry compote !!! with a scoop of strawberry ice cream. The ice cream was fine, but who puts dried fruit on a lemon bar?!? Very very expensive wines ($55-425 a bottle!) that sell for a fraction of the price in a wine store. Take your own. Better yet... don't eat here, because although the view is gorgeous, the food is horrible. Better off going to...
Read moreWhen walking in, we were greeted by a very kind hostess who sat us immediately, despite lack of reservations. She was friendly, and welcomed us to Tahoe.
We were seated at a corner table at the upper level of the restaurant, and had a gorgeous view of the scenery outside.
Blue water glasses complimented the view of the lake nicely. Certainly a clever thought!
The menu was not unlike any other upscale restaurant in size, but impressed us with creative dishes and unique flavors such as Ahi Tuna Poke served with an avocado wasabi paste, boar tenderloin, and a speciality scallop pasta, served with sautéed veggies and a cream sauce.
My filet was cooked to perfection. I asked for it as rare as possible, and that’s exactly how it came. I tested its tenderness by attempting to slice it with my teaspoon. Success. My greatest compliments to the chef.
Although this restaurant is pricy, it’s certainly worth the money. All the while we were there, our waiter (can’t remember his name. A taller young man with blonde hair pulled into a bun) as well as some other staff checked on us and offered us more bread, drinks, etc.
I appreciated the lack of plastic straws, and the paper to-go boxes for leftovers. It is clear that they try their best to be environmentally...
