CFC - Crown Fried Chicken — Restaurant in New Bedford

Avoid the North End Crown Fried Chicken on Acushnet Avenue — they have zero respect for customers’ time or money.

After physical therapy Thu night (7/31/25), I was completely wiped out and called ahead to place an order for their mixed grill, lamb and chicken on rice. I told them clearly I was taking an Uber and needed the food ready on time. They said “15 minutes.” I gave them an extra 15 minutes on top of that just to make sure everything would be ready when I arrived.

I show up — and not only is my food not ready, they hadn’t even started it.

The guy behind the counter just smiled like it was some kind of joke and asked if I “wanted to wait.” No apology, no urgency, nothing. Just straight-up disrespect. This is the second time this exact thing has happened. Two weeks ago, same location, same nonsense, and I got stuck paying extra Uber charges while they took their sweet time. No apology that time either.

I don’t care how good this dish is — when a business repeatedly wastes your time and money and treats it like a joke, they don’t deserve your business. I will never be back to this location, and I highly suggest others steer clear unless you enjoy being ignored, disrespected, and left waiting. If I could give this zero stars I...

I’ve had to shorten my review in order for it to post. So long story short I was waiting outside the establishment at a bus stop when a female employee came out and called me nasty because I wasn’t parenting hard enough for her while trying to stop my daughter from playing in the water. She said crackheads and druggies hang out there. When I followed her into the store to confront her about her attitude and behavior as my daughter is autistic and her behavior needs to be handled delicately she continued insulting me and threatened to assault me. She got other patrons involved because I was clearly emotional and yelling and told me I was nasty and saying I was triggered. She was extremely rude and unprofessional and had no business confronting me at all but at the very least if she felt that concerned with my child’s safety she could have done so without insulting me and threatening me. Disgusting restaurant in an even more disgusting area. There's always addicts slithering around the front entrance, sidewalk, and street. Went by here one day and there was a guy walking the length of the restaurant sidewalk, screaming obscenities. Another lady walked inside the restaurant, clearly high on something, pacing inside the restaurant. She kept pushing her face against the window, then returned to pacing. Nobody bothered to clean it.

I've seen blood trails leading to the front entrance that sat there for weeks. There's been bullet holes in the windows. There's always drug deals going on right in front of this restaurant, too. I'm not surprised this all happens. The owner of the building is a slumlord and can't take care of their building, but rolls around in a $350,000 vehicle.

Go eat somewhere else. I'm surprised this place hasn't been shut...
