Read moreStay away BEWARE. I ordered 7 bbq ribs with no sides. The worker hands me the food and said $27.00....yes $27.00! I immediately thought that was extremely overpriced but wasn't in the mood to cause a seen.
I didn't get a receipt either but I left feeling ripped off. We'll I got home and tried one and it was disgusting. I am certain they were cooked a day or even two days prior. Very very dry, semi hard, and ugly to look at.
Now I was in the mood. I tossed the remaining 6 in the trash. I checked my charge card and $30.50 was charged. I decided to call anonymously and asked how much the ribs were each. The man told me $3.00 (that's $21) Then I asked why I was told $27.00 and he told me it depends on the size of the rib....some are more! That's right he said that.
Then I asked why my card was charged $30.50 and he said that's with tax. Unbelievable huh? That doesn't even add up. Yes they just charge what they choose on a person to person basis ripping people and the state off.
Thus happened the previous time I was in there a few months before buy I figured it was a mere mistake but after reading reviews today and seeing other folks having the same thing happen to them well it is all done by design.
Please stay away and yes I will be reporting them to the better business bureau and tge attorney generals...
Read moreI visited La Candela on one of my trips to New Bedford. My husband and I were looking for a place to have a quick bite to eat. Came across La Candela as we were driving by. We decided to give it a try. I must say, we were glad we did. The food is outstanding. My husband had oxtails with white rice and I wanted to play it safe as I wasn’t sure what to expect and decided to get roasted chicken with some plantains. The food was delicious. I tried some of my husband’s food and vice versa. We also had empanadas and those too were delicious. The gentleman serving the food greeted us with such welcoming enthusiasm. He made us feel comfortable eating in. Although, the eating area needs some upgrades, that doesn’t impact the quality of the food. I highly recommend you trying La Candela’s Spanish food, you are guaranteed to return for more. I wish the owners lots of success and I look forward to going back when I visit...
