The food here is definitely awesome and the waitresses are always friendly and hardworking. One of the best linguica rolls you can get in New Bedford. Great breakfast and lunch options, always consistently delicious food.
However, they recently changed to not giving out menus, instead they have you scan a QR code to pull up a menu on your phone. Even being a fairly young person, I have an older phone (because I'm poor), with limited storage space and no standard QR scanner on my phone. If you cannot pull up a menu on your phone they tell you to get up and go look at a menu laminated under one of the table tops. I am not a fan of this system. I cant help but think of my grandmother, in her 90s, who still goes out alone, being told to pull up a menu on her phone (what a joke) or get up to go look at a menu after already being seated :( . I'm sure covid played into this change but again, not a fan.
While the food is great, you definitely don't go to this place for the aesthetics. The floors need to be redone badly and the white walls with wornout pale wood boarders are an eye sore. My first impression of the aesthetics is construction site.
This place is also cash only. You are greeted at the door by a piece of notebook paper with "cash only" scribbled on it in marker.
Still, after everything, would still go for the great food...
Read moreWorst service ever! Rudest waitress too. She was Caucasian that obviously goes tanning late 20s to mid 30s. Light eyes (bluish\greenish) with a mole on her face. She forced me to order food in order to even sit at a table that was alrdy occupied with my friends. There was no need for me to order when the seat wasn't going to be available for anyone that wasn't with my friends anyway. She didn't listen to our orders. Gave us w.e smh. She even went as far as telling one of my friends "No! That's what you ordered!" he most definitely didn't order what she brought him. He doesn't eat sausage and Sunnyside up eggs make him vomit. He didn't even eat it or touch it and she still made him pay for it. 4pple out 7 in the group ordered cheese rolls but she charged us $70 and then throws the bill at us when we said something about it. The math didn't add up. The bill was her writing prices all over her notepad sideways n all the prices were like $2-3. She Def played us for money. I hope a drunk person throws up in her face. Never going back. IHOP...
Read moreGolden Greek - a staple diner experience for New Bedford, MA for many, many years. It's your typical diner fare - eggs, pancakes, muffins, omelets, etc.
They had some problems some years back with drunk fighting in and around the GG very late at night - but that seems to have abated with the change in hours. I would feel safe anytime now in 2022 going there anytime of day or night. Nice to go to a diner late at night with friends for a cup of joe and a nice omelet, though post-club night forays to the GG seem to be a thing of the past for awhile now, sadly. I'm sure the security costs became prohibitive, or the City stepped in, idk not privy to that info.
Customer service is hit or miss. sometimes its 5 star other times a 1-star experience. I know its hard to get good help these days with what waitresses get paid. But all in all an OK...
