Wow, where do I start? Senor Luna bills itself as a "Mexican Restaurant" but make no mistake it's actually a sports bar. I walked in and there was no Mexican vibe/ambiance whatsoever. That was my first clue to what turned out to be a dismal foodie experience. Our server was average. Not warm or friendly and lacked efficiency. We started out with margaritas. Mine was mango. It was served in a standard beer glass. Here's a tip, when you run a "Mexican restaurant" at the very least serve your margaritas in the classic margaritas glass. As for taste, I barely noticed any tequila. It was more of a mango slushee that was really foamy. Our entrée was the Cajun fish fry and a shrimp Chimichanga. The fish portions were on the small side for the fish fry. No "Cajun" taste at all. The fish itself tasted good. It was swimming in some sort of butter broth. Potato pancakes were rubbery. I'm still trying to figure out how they got that particular consistency. Tasted very odd. Coleslaw portion was literally a table spoon and was warm. I've been to MANY fish frys and this was ridiculous. Marble bread was decent. Culver's has a way better fish fry than this place. Cheaper too!! The shrimp chimichanga was ok. Nothing to get excited about. Rice was dry but the black beans were good. Any taco truck on the South Side can serve up better "Mexican food" than Senor Luna. All in all, a miserable dining experience. A waste of my time and money. There are many other good restaurants around town to patronize that has great service, delicious food and wonderful ambiance. Senor Luna is not...
Read moreI was there for a packer Sunday.. they had free tacos at halftime.. the makings were all delicious and the drinks were great.. my complaint is with a game that they played.. the game where you tear a deck of cards one by one and sell them for $5 a piece.. I played that game wasbefore.. I bought a card and then asked him to come back again and he said they only had four or five cards left so it would be a good idea if I bought a second one now.. in my mind that gave me pretty good odds of a chance of two out of 52 or 54 if they use Jokers.. and then much to my dismay, after the full deck was sold, he brought out a second deck... I think that was rude because I bought my two cards knowing what the odds were.. so now the odds go up to two out of 60 or 70 or 80 depending on how many cards he sells.. he misrepresented the game and even if a small amount of people might have agreed to try to get up to $300 as a prize or more with extra cards, he didn't ask everybody else who had bought cards because you couldn't hear in there. I mentioned it to the server before he even drew a winner that I didn't think it was right and to please let him know that, even if I won I still didn't think it was right.. but as it turned out the second deck of cards is where somebody won... Not right ....next time I'll know better if I go back... The other couple with us also agree so that's four of us who felt...
Read moreI am writing this review as I eat my leftovers from last night. Yes, the servings are big so you will be well sated. First time customers, and the weather was nice, so the outdoor tables were open. However, we sat inside to get an idea of the entire place. It's cute, seats lots, and has a large bar area. There are lots of different-sized tables so that's great for as many friends to want to go with. Our server, Gemma, was really good and did a great job because the menu is HUGE! To start, the blended house margaritas were really good with many flavors to choose from. The drink menu alone is extensive. We ordered Steak Tacos, which filled the plate. The two sides that come with it are also plentiful. The steak did not have much flavor, as I had expected. The cheese was well hidden, too. I found them a bit bland, and they are the same this morning. However, the Ground Beef Quesadillas were spectacular! The 1/2 portion is huge, and thankfully Gemma told us so before we ordered a full order. The beef was seasoned so well, and the order was overflowing the plate. All in all we were satisfied, and I know to order the ground beef next time. But the place serves lots of options, and the tables turn over quickly so it must have a nice following. Yes, give it a try. The prices are...
