Delaney's Restaurant & Tap Room — Restaurant in New Haven

I was excited to try a place I always heard about but had never tried. As I approached, I saw a few customers at tables, and a few at the bar, only 2 parties, plenty of space for boyfriend and I to have more than 15 feet between us and others, and then I look at the bar, and see not one but TWO staff members wearing their masks below their chins. They were behind the bar, but right in front of the seated customers. It wasn't a quick gulp of air or sip of water, they chatted with customers, and talked to each other. It was clearly two guys behind a bar that don't want to follow the rules, and care about their comfort more than other's health. I was appalled and disappointed. I didn't set foot in the place. I don't care how good the wings are and how nice the people are. It's not worth catching Covid-19. If they are blatantly not following mask rules right in front of customers it begs the question what other health and safety rules do...

I love coming here on the usual however tonight was a disaster. The waiter seemed high. Extremely inattentive. I had to ask for the same cup of ranch 3 times for me and my partner and still only received one cup. The drinks were not great and he never even asked how they were so I didn’t have an opportunity to ask him to fix it. The food was cold but tasted great as always as if it was once fresh but was left in the window for a long period of time. People were served the same orders of food before us despite coming in after we had arrived and already ordered. To top it off there was an auto gratuity of 20% added onto the bill for a small party of 2 which I have never noticed before. Which is ironic because I always tip at a minimum 22% but he definitely deserved far less than 18%. I am really disappointed and hope he gets better training bc he was new so I understand maybe one or two mistakes but this was just really...

AWFUL! Don't waste your time or money going here. The service was super slow, Jessica T. didn't know the menu, when I asked her if the ice tea was unsweetened, she replied 'I can't even taste the raspberry' - trust me, it was not unsweetened. The atmosphere is dumpy and the clientele makes you want to hold on to your purse and make sure your car is locked. It was not busy and Jessica would disappear for 20-30 minutes at a time. We sat at 5pm and barely got out in time for our show at Lyman Center at 7pm. The food was just ok but she never came back to ask us how it was and on top of it all JESSICA added an AUTO-GRATUITY to our bills for our party of 6 and didn't tell us so we all tipped on top of it for this already poor, un-excusable service. I will NEVER go back and I suggest you try one of the other honest establishments...
