Stop & Shop — Local services in New Haven

I was disrespected by the pharmacist and my medication was taken from me. That was on November 6. The pharmacist, Daniel Rocki, PharmD, sold me my medication at full price, his mistake. When I asked for a price adjustment, they returned my medication, then refused to give it to me. I was yelled at, called a criminal, interrupted, and refused any helped. Daniel Rocki, PharmD, told me that purchasing the medication with my own money was illegal and that I’d committed a crime. When I asked Daniel Rocki, PharmD, to call a superior, he refused. When I asked his name, he covered up his name tag. When I asked him to not interrupt me when I spoke, he interrupted me to say he wasn’t interrupting me. When I asked for help, he refused. It was humiliating. Because my medication was taken from me, I had to cancel a family trip. I cannot be without it. I have spent at least 3 hours calling customer service to get this sorted out, calling no less then 6 times. What I’ve received is countless platitudes and promises that someone would call me back – to no avail. When I requested a copy of the notes on my complaint, I was told they were not public, and I would need to subpoena Stop and Shop to get any information. I was told the district pharmacy manager reported the issue was resolved, twice- not true. Instead, I have a voicemail of the district pharmacy manager angrily saying he “dealt with it.” On Monday December 30, a regional food manager said he would call me back by Thursday January 2. Is there anyone above these regional managers who will follow through? Anyone who hears my voice and is willing to take me seriously? Should I find another more formal avenue to file a complaint? Do I need to hire a lawyer and subpoena Stop and Shop as they suggested? How would these regional managers and pharmacists feel if this was them who was yelled at in their community grocery store? If it was them who had their medication taken away and then had to cancel a trip to see their grandmother? What would make them feel like a valued customer, a...

A manager by the name Philip accused me of stealing on the Eve of thanksgiving. Unknowing of the fact that I had been freshly discharged from a 30 day hospital admission. The police were called to the store after I made a comment mentioning racial profiling. Prior to the comment that I made about discriminatory actions , Mr Philip B. Was willing to allow me to leave the establishment without any eventful criminal activity discussion . it was then described to me in detail a brief moment during my shopping experience where I handed off my car keys to my sister who was with me for both physical and mental support that indicated suspicious behavior and was proper cause for the two of us to be constantly monitored . Once I called her in to the store after telling her no handicapped vehicles were available , we both realized that I left behind my bank card in our car parked quite a distance away. While walking out of the door to retrieve my card I was bum rushed by security and told I was no longer allowed in the establishment to purchase my items . I then asked for a manager(Philip) who proceeded asking me to leave for probable causes . When I mentioned how I felt being a woman of color monitored and recorded with no clear indication of theft the manger proceeded to say “now you can go with police” . I will be filing a civil lawsuit due to the brutality of police misconduct , as well as stop & shop establishments for emotional damage , racial profiling and public discrimination against a medically and legally disabled person . This encounter sent me into diabetic hyperglycemia, and an anxiety induced panic attack in which I needed to be treated for at Yale New Haven Hospital ...

They seem to hate people with mobility issues. The good door by the pharmacy and self checkout doesn't open until 8:00am, and they lock it early. This is inconvenient, especially for people with mobility issues. Cuz now I have to walk all the way to the other side twice, even if i am only getting my prescriptions, which sucks. And they got rid of the small carts like a year ago and got rid of the baskets like 2 months ago. Now i can only use the big heavy carts. They moved the cart return by the pharmacy exit down like 4 spots, so it's way farther away than it used to be. Otherwise, it's fine.

Produce is okay. They keep adding prepackaged stuff that used to be available to buy just 1 or 2, like mushrooms and broccoli. They keep getting Driscoll's berries even though they have no flavor. The in-season local or local-ish produce is the best.

They are often out of things. Especially sale priced meats and dairy.

The sales are good prices. The regular priced items are more expensive than shoprite, Walmart, and BJ's. The store brand deli meats are good. The workers are pretty good.

The store coupons are a nightmare. Half are on the app, the other half are spit out at you as you check out. Which means you can't just have one place to organize all your coupons, they have to be in two places, and then they get misplaced. And the digital ones can't be used more than once. It's annoying.

The pharmacy is great. They are nice and helpful and try to accommodate whatever they can.
