I order sushi regularly. My recent order from Sushi Story was a first via GrubHub. Grubhub offered a 20% discount promotion for this new Resturant so we gave this Resturant a try. However, the food I ordered recently was NOT completely fresh. The spicy tuna and sashimi deluxe platter was a disappointment. Sushi portion is small and OVERPRICED. You know the rolls are small when they can fit three “SPECIAL” rolls in one container. The Resturant cancelled one of my orders without calling me to let me know that the menu item was no longer available. I would had like to replace with another item at least. So the food that was delivered is almost equivalent to 1.5 servings, which means my husband ended up having to make the other half of his dinner at home. Not worth your money.
1 star for sashimi platter presentation. 1 star for quick delivery.

10/14/23 Update- still a two star review.
Came by for dinner last night to give this place a try in person at the restaurant since my last experience was an UberEats delivery.
Food: Miso soup is high in MSG, extremely salty soup and I was so thirsty the entire night after dinner. All of their sushi rolls were too salty and the fish may be fresh, but stored at the wrong temperature, they were too warm when served. Also, ever roll was rolled too loosely, so the rolls were fell apart when I picked up a piece with a chopstick.
Customer service- Staffs are friendly. Our waitress is a younger woman. She kindly disclosed any hot food upon serving. Unfortunately, when she served the hot miso soup, it spilled a good few spoonful onto the table and she left us carelessly. She could had offered some napkins to soak up the soup, but she did not. Lastly, on separate occasions, we asked for a pair of chopsticks that were missing on our table, water refills, extra gingers, and the check…however we needed to remind the staff members twice after each inquiry. I understand they are busy on a Friday night, but that just means they need to improve on...
Read moreI was highly recommended this place from one of my close friends. I've been waiting for so long time to check out this spot and try out their great food. We had yellowtail kama, tuna tataki and cupcake as appetizer/ sashimi deluxe, fire cracker roll and valentine roll as main dish. I'm a big seafood lover and like sushi/ sashimi so much. I tried many places in NYC area to find a good and fresh sushi restaurant, but I must say that it is really difficult to find a restaurant that provides the good quality of food and reasonable price. I totally agree that this location cares about the quality and freshness of the ingredients and how much effort and love the owner and workers put into their food and service. I was extremely pleased and happy when I finally was able to dine in here. It was a quite a trip all the way from queens, but it was totally worth of long travel. I wish this restaurant was close to my neighborhood so that I can visit here more often.
For the food, sauce is not too salty at all or overpowering so I was able to taste the main ingredients very well. More over, the sashimi was so so fresh and it was one of my top sashimi experiences in nyc! I can continue eating anytime and I was stuffed myself.
For customer service, everyone is friendly and nice. Moreover, they are all professional and caring for their customers.
Price is incomparable to other restaurants. I think it's really affordable and cheap compared to the quality and freshness of their food. The amount of the food is incredibly a lot. I'm willing to pay more even if the prices go up in the future and still will think the price is reasonable.
I will definitely go back again to try other menu in the future. I already miss this spot and hope more people enjoy this gem place before it gets...
Read moreI have written before about this place. The food is great. BUT … I find the customer service to be weak. On two occasions, I have called them from where I live and been told to come in. Both times, after a 20 minute ride I have been told they cannot accommodate me. In fact, Saturday night I had my daughter with me who was graduating high school the next day and we literally were turned away.
The management of the restaurant does not value customer relationships. I was one of the first customers of this restaurant, and have ordered well over $1000 of orders over time. They still have no loyalty, and to my face rejected me. Their argument was that it was 8:20pm and they were closing by 9pm and others had arrived in the interim. But come on….I’m a great customer and drove a long way.
The first time, maybe 18 months ago, I gave it a pass. This time, I have decided to end my relationship with the restaurant.
If you don’t care about customer service and loyalty, this is great food. If you value these things, then you will be disappointed. They smile at you, but there is not a strong value of “customer is always right”...
