I tried my best to enjoy here, but the customer service from the caucasian lady bartender left a bad taste in my mouth. My husband is white too, she treated him very friendly and then turned to me switched to sudden cold and unfriendly face, ( this happened before I said anything )asking me about my ID, and she also said “even though clearly you look like my age like 27”.
Visiting from Canada to New Orleans this February. I’ve heard people in the south are racist, and I’m not one of the fools who easily believe in stereotypes, but this single experience feels racially motivated.
I understand that this place requires ID and I didn’t insist to get a drink or anything, but her sudden change of attitude was noticeable.
Additionally, after reading some previous comments about this same lady, I got better ideas. Honestly I’m not even going to consider hiring any person like her if I were the owner of this bar. It gives you the rat in a bowl of beautiful meal.
I still don’t want to believe in stereotypes. Please have awareness of how you treat people especially when it could hurts an...
Read moreMy friend and I were able to order one round of drinks before we were asked to leave the bar. Our bartender told us that she felt uncomfortable accepting our government-issued IDs and that other patrons remarked about how young we looked (we are in our mid to late 20s). She only conceded that we were there legally until I presented proof via LA Wallet, and she quizzed my friend about the info on her ID.
Ultimately, my issue lies in which everything was handled. For one, if you were unsure of our ages, why serve us at all? Secondly, once she started to doubt her decision to serve us she should’ve kindly and calmly requested to recheck our ID’s more thoroughly instead of making a scene in front of the entire bar.
I am incredibly disappointed with my experience at Carrollton Station Bar and doubt I will be back.
Overall, if you look young, don’t bother patronizing this bar unless you want to be harassed or declined service. Clearly, this is a bar reserved for those who can remember...
Read moreBeen going to the “Think You’re Funny” open mic at Carrollton Station since 2010 as an audience member, and since 2017 as a performer. I’ve watched or performed in thousands of open mics between dozens of places across over a dozen states, and the open mic at Carrollton Station is by far the best run and most enjoyable from both an audience and a performer perspective. I’ve seen Hannibal Burress, Bill Burr, Sean Patton, Punkie Johnson, Shane Torres, Marcus Bond, and many other incredible standup comedians at this mic.
The bartenders, door guy, and kitchen program are also top-tier. Don’t even get me started on the bar cat Powder and the next door neighbor dog Holey (don’t know his real name, but that’s what I call him since there’s a hole in the courtyard fence he sticks his head through to hang out with us). Great times. They run a top tier show with an athmosphere conducive for everyone’s enjoyment. Don’t be a jack___ here and you will...
