Old Alker Distillery — Local services in New Orleans

Old Alker Distillery was a total letdown. The two female bartenders were arrogant, clearly inexperienced, and honestly seemed a bit drunk. They were in way over their heads—rude, slow, and more focused on themselves than the customers. The cocktails were overpriced considering how poorly they were made and the lack of skill behind the bar.

One of them claimed the bourbon was distilled on-site, but that turned out to be untrue—it’s sourced from a factory and just bottled there. Misleading customers like that is a huge red flag.

The spirits themselves were middle-of-the-road at best, nothing that justified the prices or the attitude. On top of that, the ambiance was just awkward: too bright, uncomfortable, and totally lacking any atmosphere or polish. It felt like a cheap setup trying to pass as something more upscale. I’m not sure who gave this place a one star but that is unbelievable and so untrue. This place is clean. The people are friendly. Especially the bar staff! The service is absolutely wonderful. I have been there several times with my whole family and no one disappointed. The drinks are awesome craft made and they make all of their own liquor and vanilla. I’m a baker and I use it in my cakes. It is delicious. I recommend this place to anyone!!!! Now the outside WOW! It is beautiful and on a nice sunny day. It’s the best place to go sit and relax and have a few drinks. I give it a five star rating and cannot wait...

Great experience, world class artisan spirits and carefully executed cocktails. Order from the menu or let a bartender get creative (order "dealers choice") and you won't be disappointed. The staff in this family run business really cares about your experience and exemplifies the best of new orleans hospitality. Expect a welcoming and casual neighborhood bar experience.
