Prompt and friendly wait staff. Highly recommend the shrimp remoulade and fried green tomato appetizer. (Plentiful, nicely sized, and perfectly cooked shrimp). Super quick arrival of both appetizer and entrees. Other than the bacon, the Brussels sprouts were average, but pleasantly fresh. The hamburger and fries were also average, but an easy kid pleaser. The lamb shank had a unique and enjoyable stone ground mustard au jus, but required a bit more knife work than expected to get it off the bone. I went on a date with my boyfriend for the first time here and I have all good things to say! Starting off, we were sat immediately with amazing service. My server Sarah was attentive and great at holding a conversation. Her recommendations were great. She has such a young positive spirit with hilarious humor. Along with her great service, the food was incredible and so tasty! Sarah told my boyfriend and I that around Christmas time, Ye Olde College Inn is the place to be because they decorate it all pretty so we have to come back! I ordered the Steak Frites and it was so good! My boyfriend ordered the Fresh Catch and the flavor was so yummy. Overall, the food was great and Sarah was an amazing server. I have not been to Ye Olde College Inn in years , and it has changed a lot. I went on a Friday night and I was in luck - they had seafood gumbo that was unbelievably good. The roux was such a dark chocolate brown I was expecting a burnt taste but it was creamy and unbelievably tasty too. I really wanted to lick the bowl it was so good. Also, they have a fried green tomato and shrimp remoulade po-boy that was really good. The bread was fresh and it was full of big fat Gulf shrimp in remoulade sauce. Get it dressed (lettuce and tomato) and you are set for a hearty seafood meal. Get bread pudding for dessert to go and have once you get home. There is no way you'd have room for it after that meal.
