I ordered Chicken Cracklin ( along with a package of Hot Hogs Head cheese). When my cracklin was ready the cashier dropped the bag on the floor. She picked up the bag, sat it on the counter. She and another employee picked up what fell out of the the and threw it away. When the cashier told the cook what happened he prepared some more. However the cashier picked up the bag that had fallen and brought it to the kitchen. I asked her if that was my order she said yes but heās preparing a whole new order. When I asked about the bag she bright to the kitchen she said āoh thatās for him, heās going to eat that on his breakā. I said to her ok because I donāt want that bag because it fell on the floor. She assured me thatās not what Iāll be getting, but it will take a while to cook some more. However when my order was given to me the bottom of the bag was cool to the touch while to top was hot. I asked the cashier was this a new batch or was this the bag that fell with some added cracklin to the top. She said āoh no thatās how the bags are made to be cool at the bottom. I told her I did not want that order. She went to the cook, came back to me and said āwell yes some of what was in the bag that fell but was still in there because it didnāt hit the floorā. Again I told her I donāt want that. Again she brought the bag back to the kitchen and assured me the cook was preparing a new batch. The order that was finally given to me was hot to the touch the entire distance of the bag. I assume it was all freshly cooked. I spent about half an hour waiting on the correct order. I think itās awful to serve a customer food that was dropped on the floor as well as to assume a customer would want food that was dropped on the floor. In hindsight I should have asked for the manager....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had been looking forward all week to visiting and they did not disappoint. Terrific food, excellent customer service and a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy with friends/family. All the fare is made in-house and cooked when ordered. My Sample Sausage platter came with my choice of sauces and sausages, grilled peppers & onion. By nature, I am a generous person but not today. So very tender--sooo good. It created a palate party and the sauces were uniquely tasty. The onion rings, boudin ball and my cousin's fish platter were hearty. Can you say, "to-go" plate please? The exceptional customer service begins the moment you walk in the door until departure. Clean surfaces from ceiling to floor (that is important to me). Monitors showed Jazz musicians displaying their craft. They also package and sell assortment of items. It is a locally black-owned establishment with a long, rich history. Short ride from central city. Locals and visitors should not miss a chance to experience what Vaucresson...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst red flag is that this restaurant does not have a clear menu on line. You arrive and you immediately have to pay for whatever they decide to cook that day. PLEASE BEWARE THAT YOU ALSO ARE GIVEN A PROMPT TO PRE-PAY A TIP BEFORE YOU RECEIVE SERVICE. I made the terrible mistake of adding a tip with my order (guilt because it's black-owned, optimnism I guess). BUT NEVER AGAIN. TIPS ARE TO BE FOR SERVICES RECEIVED! Well, you guessed what happened later. The service was terrible and disorganized. It felt like they'd never done this before. Food came out real late and at two different times for the two of us. The gumbo was very salty and the fish was not well cooked. There are so many other choices of where to spend your money for food in New Orleans. They...
