Hunan Wok — Restaurant in New Orleans

Not to give away any secrets, but this has to be the best Chinese place in the city for take out. Big portions. Real sauces, not just variations of the sweet red sauce (they have that too). I ordered a snack from here many years ago and was so shocked at the amount of meat in my fried wontons and the quality of the portions...I thought it was a fluke. Nope. I just got food from here last week and it was exactly the same! I've only had this quality one other time in my life from a Chinese place, and it was a sit down/dine in restaurant. This place is super tiny, but the lady at the counter is on top of things and very nice. You will be just as shocked as I was that such good food came out of this tiny spot in a sketchy...

My favorite cheap Chinese take out spot in Nola. Sketchy parking lot, full of “local flavor”! Take your food and run away! I always order before I pick up, get in and get out! It’s a legit American version Chinese food place. Not cuisine, but still very good. I get Kung Pao chicken a lot and I am always happy with the what they serve up. They always have the food ready when I arrive. If you’re looking for a new drug dealer, out front is a great spot to find a hook up. I feel a little bad for the people working here because they’re fairly pleasant considering how much street hassle they probably have to deal with everyday. Don't be fooled ny the picture. I just take really good shots.Shrimp fried rice had four shrimp and was nothing more than colored rice. Bourbon chicken was not best at all. Its sauce was thick. Fried wonton was hard. Crab rangoon was cream cheese with a crab flavoring. The curry in the cho cho was the best of it all. Wait time was bad. The phone orders seemed to take precedence over the customers in person. $25.00 and did NOT come with a drink. Not sure who could've given this 4 stars. But it is not worth it. Quick meal, $7.50 for the tuperware plastic plate that is all. Just something because downtown N.O. doesn't have many Chinese restaurants of quality to compete with...
