Williby's Catfish | Fresh Catfish Restaurant — Restaurant in New Orleans

While visiting NOLA last week, we saw an Instagram reel for Williby’s and decided to go check it out. I wish I could say that we enjoyed our visit. We ordered before we were allowed to “catch” our meal. The cashier told us to go to the catch tank. We waited a few minutes before a gentleman came from the back, handed me the net and walked away not a word spoken. No one ever came to assist so I proceeded to catch fish. After another few minutes, a second man came from the kitchen area, dumped the fish I caught back into the tank and went back to the kitchen, again never saying a word. The other 3 people in my party weren’t offered the net nor were we allowed to pick fish from the ones I caught. We did notice a pan with raw fillets in it and figured the “catch your meal” is strictly a gimmick. We go back to the front to wait for our order. The food we received was hot however the fillets were extremely measly compared to ones in the Instagram reel. We ordered potato salad and macaroni & cheese, neither were very impressive. They have a house punch...

Man start making ya way to the 7th ward!! Make ya darn way there!! Now don't be alarmed by the smell..they have LIVE catfish in there..Took my bae there and I ordered the whole catfish with mac n cheese & fries, she had catfish with the same sides. LISTEN!! That food came out so hot & fresh!! It didn't take long either! The fish was so crispy..so the whole catfish comes with 2 whole fish! Yes 2! Plates come with 2 sides! They don't have ranch but they do have hot sauce, ketchup, tartar & cocktail sauce..coke products as well! They normally allow you to catch your catfish but they didn't have the big catfish for us to do it..I'm not sure if the lady was the owner or the cook but she was real cool about it when she told us we couldn't do it..this is really a hidden gem! The lady at the counter working was friendly..there's nowhere to sit inside, so be prepared to take ya food to go..overall I'll be back and I'll definitely be sending people there..they close at like 5p or 6p so don't wait too late!!...

So I placed my order on seamless which the website is not as explanatory as when you walk into the restaurant to pick up your order the board shows a lot more items that they do not have on the website. It reads catfish plate and then the other items says catfish fillets so I understand that if you get the catfish plate it has four fillets if you get the Other choice which is catfish fillets it means two I believe but it still comes with two sides. The catfish is very bland it could use some seasoning the potato salad it has way too much garlic macaroni so so. I ordered a side of fries for five dollars and I might’ve got 12 french fries. Each plate has four fillets you gave me tartar sauce each which is the size of a mustard pack. Not impressed. I also spent $20 a plate +2 dollars tip and you can walk into the restaurant and only pay 18 for the plate I ordered online two plates and an extra side plus tax plus tip was $51...
