don't recommend eating at @wishingtownbakerycafe on magazine. I went in and ordered dumplings, salad, and a new menu item. I asked how do they like it and was told "well I haven't tried it but it looks good" I order it and the food • comes out literally looking like old meat covered in sauce. I took one bite to be fair but the smell down to the texture of what was supposed to be ribeye, was just OFF. I explained to them everything else was yummy but something is seriously off with my senses in regards to the meal.. I don't typically have a gag reflex with food but with this I straight up DID.the server even saw me cover my mouth..down to the smell, it was bad. There was no offer to get me anything else or any sympathy, they just said "well this is the first time anvone has ever complained about this item so we can't take it off the bill" What the helly? It's a new menu item so maybe it is the first time but still in all why would you say that? So I pushed the issue further of course and explained to them that the meal immediately triggered something sense wise and I'm not trying to be rude. They then said " there is no way that's true, it's our most expensive item and we use Mongolian beef" ...so much condescending behavior over 19 dollar meal. Eventually they took it off the bill (not really) and still made me pay for a small portion of the meal, but super rude and demeanig. No customer service whatsoever. I paid for the rest and nicely apologized again for not liking that ONE dish and the server just said "yeah K" and stormed off. Cute location. Horrible service...
Read moreWe had such a good time! Went to meet a colleague after work to get some food and brought my VERY active 4 year old. I was a little worried, because he can be quite a lot (active body and super curious mind—asks a question every thirty seconds.) Our server was great. She kept answering his questions, showed him around, complimented his boots and overalls, and legit made him feel like he was a super special guest.
Everyone who worked there was so nice to us, including the older man in the kitchen and the younger guys at the counter. My kid can be a lot—a very lot—and they were all so nice and really listened to him.
Food was good. I didn’t get to have what I wanted because my kiddo can’t tolerate spicy foods yet, so we got the Taiwan sacha creamy chicken broth, and the not spicy hot pot. It was yummy, but once my kid had had what he wanted I added chili oil and siracha and it was way yummy, so the spicy is probably way better. The dumplings were excellent and the macarons were perfect—not too sweet, right consistency.
This place is great, would highly recommend, and we will definitely...
Read moreCute, casual, yummy. With an uptown New Orleans location off Nashville the outside is totally adorable. They have a super cute patio space that was way too cold for me to enjoy when I went. The menu is large, there are a lot of different dim sum options and it was a little overwhelming for me at first. We tried the lobster shu mi and basket shrimp with the jellyfish and cucumber salad. Everything was good but admittingly my favorite thing was the salad. I took a bunch of baked goods home as well This is where I found things lacking. I'm under the impression that the baked goods were not that fresh. The tarot cheesecake was yummy but the coconut custard was overcooked in my opinion, the egg tart was good and we also tried this little egg yolk thing that looked really crispy and delicious on the outside but was kind of just old and dry tasting and then when you got to the actual egg yolk that was separately just not my jam. I probably go back to try more dim sum. Haven't found a dim sum place on the East Bank besides this one. They have another location in...
