My husband and I eat quite frequently at Wake up Cafe. Today may have been the last time we will. We were a party of 6, the server suggested the ladies go first with their orders, which meant mine was 3rd on the list. Our meals came, and mine was not included. I was told my order was placed on a second page, and was overlooked, but was assured it was on its way. After sitting very uncomfortable for an hour waiting on my breakfast, I sent my husband to cancel the order. I had asked after 30 minutes for it to be cancelled and she said it was up and would be right out. Another 30 minutes went by and we finally cancelled so we could pay the bill. When the waitress came to collect the payment, we were told the 3 mimosas we had would be taken off the bill, and she was sorry, but they were so busy. We watched people get seated and leave in the time that I should have received my breakfast. It was very uncomfortable sitting and watching 5 others eat breakfast while I sat. I’m not sure if this was a waitress problem, or a management problem, but after years of great experiences, this has ruined Wake up...
Read moreWe make a point to hit Wake Up Cafe every time we’re in NSB. Wake Up North is new and cozy. Staff is super friendly and helpful (especially Annastasia).
Pictures include: strawberry banana french toast, latte with almond milk, single espresso, hot honey chicken biscuit and hash browns (honey is on the bottom; get an extra napkin; heat is a 3/10, you can handle it); avocado toast on sourdough w/ over easy eggs and hash browns, and Dulce de Leche toast bites.
I’m pretty sure there’s a tía in the back making all the food. This little gem feels like going to your best Argentinian friend’s house for family breakfast. When you wake up on a Saturday morning craving a sweet hometown diner vibe without the greasy spoon part, Wake Up Cafe got you covered.
BONUS: homemade empanadas can be ordered to eat hot in house OR uncooked to take home and enjoy with la familia. Will update this post once...
Read moreA local breakfast spot that knocks it out out of the park. With a Spanish and Argentinian influence, the food goes against the mundane of your typical diner.
Upon entering, you're greeted with a warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere. Food was prompt, didn't feel like I even waited, even with it being a full house!
As for the food, today I indulged on the Lomito a Caballo (pictured) the freshness of the tomato stood out the most, it complimented the ham and steak beautifully. Definitely didn't leave hungry after that dish and will have again. Also bought some empanadas to go, have not eaten them yet as of writing this but I can assure you the scent that is emanating from my to go box is making me wish I wasn't so full from breakfast.
Highly recommend giving Wake Up Cafe a try! P.s. this was not my first time eating here, nor will it be my last, just figured it's finally time to say...
