What a place, with fanatic coffee and good food Island Roasters does everything it needs to do and more. Let me tell you, I am quite the big coffee person, as many of others here probably are, so believe me when I tell you the coffee here is amazing! I am unsure as to what beans they use here but there are just delightful. Me personally I like to order the Mocha, it hits all the sweetness I’m looking for in a good mocha. To switch gears, I’ll talk about the food. While most of the food options to me or pretty good, I could see how some could just be considers okay. But i believe you get what you pay for with food. Most of the breakfast sandwiches are pretty cheap so it may make up for their lack of quality for some. But it’s what most people are expecting for a cafe. My only slight complaint is there isn’t a lot of seating inside, as most of the seating is located out doors. Which is nice, on a nice day, but when it’s too hot, I’ve just brought my food to my car 🤣. They have a food variety of items as well as some vegetation options. They are also pet friendly! So you can bring your furry friend with you to...
Read moreAs former baristas and cafe owners we're a little more critical than most when it comes to coffee. That being said, Island Roasters scores a solid 4 out of 5 for the friendliness of the staff, the preparation of the espresso drinks, as well as the cleanliness and overall vibe of the shop.
Roasting beans is a true art form, and Island Roasters definitely knows their craft. My personal preference leans toward a slightly darker/bolder roast, but aside from that, their roast and shots had a well balanced flavor and a smooth, mellow finish. The one small negative in my drink was that the half and half in my breve was steamed a little too long giving it a hint of a scalded aftertaste.
The cranberry orange muffin was fresh and made from scratch with lots of pieces of pulp and berries. The emphasis seems to be more on health conscious/organic ingredients than shear sinful deliciousness like a traditional bakery. OK for some if you're into that kind of thing, but personally I'll choose the less healthy, guilt ridden, tasty goodness every time.
Overall a good little coffee shop worth the stop if you're...
Read moreSo wanted to love this place based on what we have seen about it on the Internet. Went there to buy roasted decaf beans in our search for the best decaf coffee for health reasons. We also wanted to absorb the ambiance and sense attributes of a coffee shop in a great city with a roaster. First of all, parking on a Sunday was a bit confusing. Needs a bigger facility or without the food corner. The food prices are too expensive for another purchase. Had a cup of Sumatra decaf and it seems watery when sipped but with a nice aftertaste. We use 2oz of grounds for 6oz of coffee so maybe the cup of Sumatra was more diluted with water. Bought 1lb of Maya decaf beans for home. Unfortunately, the Maya coffee made with a 2-to-6 formula still produced that initial watery taste and the nice aftertaste was not as good as the Sumatra. However, the Maya beans did make very good flavored...
