Bella Mama Rose — Restaurant in New York

I am so happy I chose Bella Mama Rose because they were absolutely pleasant to work with, start to finish. This party was both a social gathering of my gym buddies from South Beach CrossFit and also rolled in with my bday 🥳🎉

Out of three restaurants I contacted, Bella Mama Rose was the most responsive (I prefer to message via email or instagram). I never had their food before the party, but visited beforehand to check out the space. They provided me with different party menu options, and we chose the Pizza Party with open bar. This came with a choice of 4 apps and 3 pizzas.

Total Party time: 3 hours

Apps: Eggplant rollatini, fried calamari, Caesar salad, rice balls

Pizzas: Margherita, pepperoni, meatball.

Extra touch: they had the logo of our gym in the TV screen! That was so nice!

I appreciated their flexibility- I had very last minute additions to the group, and surprises the night of! Surprises/extra party members may not be a big deal to some, but a restaurant needs to be prepared due to staffing and food prep. We had about 3-4 servers, two floaters (including the owner), and one bartender (she was fantastic and quick!). Everyone was so incredibly kind and pleasant.

The food: The crew enjoyed everything. I tend to be picky with salads (I don’t like salad dressing) but their Caesar salad was solid! The fried calamari was crispy and not oily or soggy like some places. I also ate my fair share of pizza and wish I had some to take home, but my amigos beat me to it and I’m glad bc it means they had fun!

My friend bought a sheet cake from Moretti’s and he was able to drop it off a few hours before the party.

My favorite party/birthday party I’ve had to date. I tried to take as many good pictures as I can… but you know, that open bar package! 🥳🤣

Tucked away right by the Bayonne Bridge is the Hidden Gem of Staten Island. I live in Jersey I grew up here on staten island. It is named after the owner's mother. I have worked as a professional chef in my lifetime. I don't usually eat Italian out other than pizza. I've got to tell you went with seven friends. The mussels in red sauce a little spicy but just the perfect combination of heat!! They were is good as I can make myself. They're red gravy is amazing definitely made with San Marzano tomatoes. We shared three apps family style. the fried calamari was probably the best I've ever had. Baked clams also excellent. Our dinners were also excellent I had the veal Romano it was fork tender,excellent. Pasta was a perfect aldenti!!!I grew up in the same neighborhood as the owner. But haven't seen them since I was probably 18 years of age I'm now in my late sixties.I think His son and daughter run the place. If you live on Staten Island or in New Jersey make the trip to Morningstar Road you will not be disappointed!!! the service is impeccable Alex was amazing at her job..you are not rushed in any way. This is my second visit. And as an Italian and chef. You do not want to miss this place. We have experienced catering from Bella Mama Rose and a pizza party at the restaurant. The catering was for a tailgate during our football game, the sandwiches and salad were a hit. I’m picky about my chicken, usually when you order sandwiches the chicken ends up being dried out and on the tough side, these sandwiches were amazing. The chicken was just right, not cut too thin and didn’t dry out. I would say it was made fresh before the delivery and not preheated.

We hosted our team pizza party on a Saturday at the restaurant, we had one of their private spaces and had 50 people. The food did not disappoint, the salad was delicious, rice balls, bread sticks and fried calamari were a hit and the pizza was perfect for our group. I failed to take photos of the food but trust me, worth it! They even had our team logo on the screen for us and provided a speaker so we could have music in the room.

This is a great place for a group outing. The staff was accommodating/attentive and kept the food coming. Full disclosure, Bella Mama Rose is sponsoring our football team this season and we like to give back to our sponsors by hosting our get togethers with them when we can.
