On 08/08/21 at 6:00 P M, we ordered the following items from Carol’s Place: Family Bucket Baked Spaghetti, 3 Extra Meatballs, and 2 Orders Mini Fried Doughs total order with tax came to $50.00 and change which included a $3.00 tip. Our food arrived 2 1/2 hours late.
I immediately called which (was on speakerphone so my husband could hear the conversation); and spoke to Austin. He begins with due to COVID-19, they are short of staff. He said they closed at 8:00 P M. I responded by stating that is not our concern. I told him our food was ice cold! My husband stated the food was lousy. Austin told us the entire meal would be replaced for free. I made sure to put this in my notes for later reference.
On 08/21/21 at 6:00 P M, (on speakerphone) I called to place our order. I explained the entire situation to him. He goes, “you need to speak with Austin”. Austin gets on the phone; and says that is not what I told you. He starts saying that their policy doesn’t refund the entire order for food not returned to them. He then says that they will credit half the order.
I told him this is not what he said to us on 08/08/21. I told him that my husband heard the entire conversation. I told him that he was a liar! I became extremely irate due to the fact he was calling me a liar. He then hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak with the owner. Some woman came on the phone claiming to be Carol’s daughter. She started repeating what Austin just said. I told her that Austin didn’t mention anything like that on 08/08/21. She then starts to say that it was over 20 days. I told her no one mentioned anything about a time limit. She goes our policy is $25.00 refund for food orders not returned. I told her then that Austin should have told us that; and he could have sent the driver back to pick up the cold food.
I told her I am filing a complaint with NYS Attorney General’s office and NYS Better Business Bureau. She goes what is your name and address. I spelled out my name and gave her my address. I then hung up because I was absolutely fuming at this point. I told her that is a lousy way to conduct business. I told her that staff should not give out false information.
I don’t like being made out to be a liar. This definitely cause my temperature to rise. I have absolutely no reason to lie. If Austin didn’t give us that information about the free meal. I would not have been so upset. If he stated that they could on give us a $25.00 credit; or they would have to come back and get the food.
Austin is most definitely a liar; because he made a point on 08/08/21 stating they were closed. That is why he never mentioned anything about the $25.00 half order credit. Because I most assuredly would have made them come back.
We have been ordering from Carol’s place forever! During all these years never experienced such a nightmare! I made my husband call them back. The man who answered the phone stated that they were sending us a $25.00 gift certificate. When it arrives I plan on sending it directly back to them. I will never do business with a company that blatantly calls me a liar. Carol’s Place just lost a long time customer. When an employee makes a statement to the customer. The company’s owners should honor what is...
Read moreOrdered for pick up a few weeks ago, tried to get the chicken parm over spaghetti, the older man working the phones said they don’t carry spaghetti (it’s literally printed right on the menu) not out, just don’t carry it. Okay.? Angel hair instead I guess? Told half hour pickup. Show up about 25 minutes later to an empty register area and sit there for 10 minutes until I was helped. THEN SAT ANOTHER 10 TO GET MY ORDER. The entire time the woman at the counter was very standoffish and seemed like me waiting silently in their waiting area was a bother to her. Went home and it was ridiculously bland, like not even salted. Pasta over cooked.
Decided to give it a second try in case it was an off day.
Went back this morning and thought maybe it’ll be better if we eat in instead of take out. Nope.
Our hostess sat us and brought us waters and then we sat there for 25 minutes before anyone spoke to us. Come to find out the poor waitress is the only one on on a busy Saturday morning.
Ordered, waited over 40 minutes for our food to come out. The restaurant had cleared by the time we got our food, people who were there after us even got served before we did.
My chicken salad had grapes throughout it, no big deal, just wish it was on the menu so I could’ve ordered different. Then my boyfriend ordered a medium rare burger- comes out well done. Both of our meals were bland, again, didn’t even seem like it was salted. We didn’t ask for anything new because at this point we just wanted to go home and we didn’t want to wait another 40 minutes to get anything. We figured a burger would take longer than a cold salad wrap, but 40 minutes for it to come out and it’s cooked double the amount he ordered??
We’re really disappointed and won’t be back, which sucks because it’s within walking distance of our house.
Only rating 2 stars because our waitress was super sweet and it isn’t her fault she didn’t have the help she needed to be more attentive...

EXTENDED REVIEW
I ordered a cheese pizza, cheese sticks, and fries. Of the three items I ordered the cheese sticks were the most enjoyable.
Overall it was an okay meal and I'd probably order it again, especially since the service was prompt and cheerful. However, it did not impress me enough that I would change my pizza shop preferences. I will update this review if I eat here again.
PIZZA
The most overpowering feature of the pizza was its biting garlic flavor. Following that closely behind was a kind of buttery flavor that seemed to infuse the crust. The cheese was not particularly noteworthy; it was very similar to most other pizzas available at late-night pizza places or bars. The pizza quickly degraded over time and went from gooey hangover food to early morning regret in the space of an hour.
CHEESE STICKS
The cheese sticks were very good, especially when compared to some cheese sticks I've had in the area. They were generously cheesy with just the right amount of crispiness in their breading. The marinara sauce that came with them was sweet which worked to complement the hearty flavor of the cheese. It had some spice to it but it was softer and expressed itself gradually.
FRIES
The fries were not crispy, but rather a kind of softness I've not really encountered before. I wouldn't go so far as to call them soggy, but they could be mistaken for that upon first glance. Overall they were alright. They don't seem to salt them much, if any, which is a welcome change from the overly salted fries I've had...
