Coffee Monster - Whitestone — Restaurant in New York

As a business owner I understand how important my employees are to my companies bottom line. I discovered this place while on an afternoon walk with my wife a few months ago and it seemed like a great find. We’ve been here a handful of times for some shaved ice, which is actually very good btw. Recently went in for some around 835pm, waited in line to place my order (around 839pm). When the young man asked me what I wanted I ordered the mango shaved ice, when the young woman heard my order she immediately scoffed and walked away. The young man repeatedly asked her a question in their native language while she ignored him. He then proceeded to walk away and have a private conversation with the woman (I could still see you bro). When he returned he informed me of this policy they had decided to implement that they do not take shaved iced ordered after 840pm. It is now 841pm mind you and he spent the last 2 minutes speaking to the woman. I begin to argue the point a little but I figured hey it’s not really worth it. I started To walk out the door as he yelled “Wait you wanted Medium right?!” No thanks buddy. Just to make a point, the people before me ordered the expect same item. Regardless of the fact, the place makes good items but their employees are just terrible. Even the handful of times I’ve gone they have just been nothing but rude...

I had anticipated coming here for the first time for a couple of weeks now. Sadly, I was very disappointed.

First, I was disappointed they no longer had the mugs on display to choose from. The decor on the shelves looked a lil rundown. The displays could have been a little more organized and lighting on to make it look nicer. The only thing that made the place look nice was the Christmas tree and seating. Otherwise, this place could use a sprinkle of joy.

I was looking forward to trying out the croffles, but they didn't have it. That was followed by they didn't have paninis. Then, they only had dark roast regular coffee. We didn't understand why the watermelon slush was on the menu if it's only seasonal, or should at least say what seasonal months. So, another thing they didn't have. At this point we were already turned off and annoyed. There were no foods or anything for that matter in the fridge display either.

At this point we were ready to leave and frustrated. Prior to going in they had a temporary "cash only right now" sign and had to go to an atm. Usually I mind paying atm fees but we thought this place would be worth it, it wasn't.

My friend and I had a great experience here. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful and attentive. I ordered the taro bubble tea and the tiramisu latte. My friend had a peach tea with boba and almond honey croffle….My tiramisu latte was amazing! Truly addictive… I’m still craving another. The taro bubble tea was milky and not too sweet. The croffle was delicious… it looks like croissant dough baked in a waffle iron. Crispy on the outside with those flaky buttery layers inside. The almond honey topping was light and sweet. We also topped ours with vanilla bean ice cream and whipped cream. Divine. I wish I took pictures but we gobbled it all up so quickly! Also we grabbed a pouch of the mini chocolate chip cookies and those were yummy, they held us over until the croffle. Also the ambiance is very relaxed, clean. Other patrons were working on laptops, reading, chatting, one couple was dining with their baby in a stroller. Bathroom was very very clean. I...
