This Domino's store policy NEEDS TO CHANGE especially for the sake of all people with disabilities and chronic conditions who are unable to easily (or at all) meet their drivers downstairs to be given the food they are hungry for and wait a long time to receive.
I am currently sick with COVID-19 and expressed my worry numerous times to my delivery driver about not forcing me to meet him downstairs so I don't needless expose him or anyone to this virus which has killed millions of people worldwide since 2020, and because I am extremely exhausted/fatigued and dealing with a lot of physical pain and weakness. Instead of making an exception or accommodation for this circumstance, the driver said I should just call the store (Store #3691 - Kingsbridge Avenue location in Bronx, NY 10463) and cancel my order. I begged him not to leave and to wait for me because I was hungry and wanted my food. However, I pointed out how this is an accessibility issue and a direct violation of federal law - The Americans With Disabilities Act.
In addition to this practice (which I believe - but am not 100% sure about - is only the policy at certain Domino's locations) being in violation of the ADA, this supposedly goes against Domino's corporate policy as well, according to the company website. When I Googled this question, here are the responses that came up from the Domino's website: No, it is not Domino's corporate policy to require customers to meet their delivery driver outside at their car; the company policy generally allows customers to receive their pizza at their door, and drivers are instructed to follow local safety guidelines when making deliveries. Key points to remember: Flexibility: While drivers may ask if you prefer to meet them at the door or outside, you are not obligated to do so according to Domino's policy. Safety concerns: In certain situations like high-crime areas, a driver may request to meet you at the door or outside for their own safety, but this is not a universal requirement. Local variations: Some local Domino's stores may have specific delivery procedures based on their area, so it's best to check with your local store if you have any questions.
In light of the above information, I do not understand how this particular Domino's location gets away with this horrible policy that should not exist. I also do not understand how specific locations are legally allowed to get away with this practice. I plan to pursue legal action against this Domino's location if this DISABILITY RIGHTS ISSUE is not addressed as swiftly and completely as possible. This location should be ASHAMED and needs to change.
Signed, A loyal Domino's customer up until today...
Read moreI placed an order. Two hours later it was not delivered. I wasn't paying that much attention -- I was gaming, it tends to distract you --but, when I checked the status, the order claimed it was delivered. I called the store and, eventually, I was told that the driver had called me and I had not answered. It turns out, though, that the number they had on file was a number I had not owned in over a decade. Mind you, the online order had asked for a phone number for status texts and I received those fine. Nowhere had it asked me for a phone number which is seemingly required for delivery. It had not bothered to ask whether, over the course of a ten year period, my number had changed.
I have ordered from this Domino's about four times over the last month. I got a yen after not having ordered in quite a while. Those orders were delivered to my apartment the same as any other delivery. WHen I spoke to the manager of the store, she claimed that the drivers are not supposed to deliver to the apartment, they are supposed to have the customer come down to retrieve it, despite the fact that every other delivery place comes to my door.
The service was appalling at every level, from the driver, to the service person answering the phone to the manager who made absolutely no effort to help out or even apologize. Even if I were not incensed at the treatment, the fact that, out of all other delivery places, this one will force me to get dressed and go outside to retrieve my food means that I will never order...
Read moreThis is the most disrespect I have ever received from a Domino's order. I placed my order at 4:22, and received it at 6:05 PM after the tracker said it had been delivered at 5:15 PM. I called the store who said I'd be refunded via store credit. The girl on the phone didn't take my information at all, and I don't have an account open with Domino's, so she was lying, and hung up on me. When I received my pizza, it was cold and the pizza was folded on itself (I have a picture if I was asked to provide one). I called the store and the same girl put me on hold for 15 minutes, so I hung up. When I called again, she didn't pick up. I called from a different phone number and she picked up right away, and I demanded the manager, Alejandro, who put me on hold for 10 minutes, and said he wanted the pizza back to give me a refund. I threw out the pizza, and told him to forget about it and hung up. 30 minutes later, the driver of Domino's pizza is harassing us at my front door, ringing the doorbell, as well as calling the house phone, asking for the pizza. This is unprofessional and heinous. I used to respect Domino's. But your claims are lies, and this particular store...
