No even a star this place is soooo bad, the cooks are horrible and disrespectful, today was I think the worst experience ever, they sold me rotten food ROTTEN i can not make this up, it smelled so bad the taste was unbearable, the health department needs to take a look,

Not only was the food ROTTEN but when I went back to ask for my money back THEY WHERE LAUGHING BECAUSE THE ALREADY KNEW, one of the lady’s said she warned the cook but he didn’t listen, NOT ONLY WAS IT A JOKE TO THEM BUT THE WHERE DRINKING THEY SEEM TO BE DRUNK ON THE CLOCK,

When I say DONT COME HERE, save yourself from having to go thru this AND JUST GO TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION THIS IS NOT IT AT ALL!!!!

As you can see above the owner is indeed a nice person but nice has nothing to do with the service and food that was spoil and sold to me and my wife, and yes I forgot to mention THIS IS THE SECOND TIME, the food wasn’t so great. The first time his employee pass me a LIME CUT IN HALF WITH HER BARE HANDS NO GLOVES AT THE BEGINNING OF COVID!! Wow thank you for reminding me I forgot to mention.

The empanadas were decent, most of them tasted pretty similar but I did appreciate the variety on the menu and the overall concept of the place. That said, I was disappointed to see a B grade from the NYC Health Department posted outside, and it’s been there for quite a while now.

The interior didn’t feel clean, and it looked messy behind the counter, which made me a bit uncomfortable. I really want to like this place more, but between the long-standing B grade and the condition of the space I don’t feel confident returning right now.

I noticed the owner responds to reviews, so I’d like to ask: Have any steps been taken toward correcting the violations and requesting a re-inspection for an A grade? I understand re-inspections can take time, but a B means there were 14–27 violation points, and as a customer, that raises concern about food safety and cleanliness.

I try to be open and fair when it comes to local food shops. This store is conveniently located between campus and home. Today I got out of class a bit late and wanted pizza. I decided to try out the Medium sized “La Callejera” pizza (Dominican style pizza). Totaling $16. I was extremely disappointed, again. I’ve been to the University location various times (have tried various menu items) as I had mentioned it is extremely close to campus and Empanadas RD has not met any of my antojos Dominicanos expectations. Personally, I believe the food is mediocre/low quality and overpriced. I’ve tried their chicken empanadas and the chicken is like a pasty consistency and the cheese they use seems like plastic.
