HAPPY CAKE BAKERY — Restaurant in New York

So I'm writing a review of happy cake in which I'm not so happy after all!!! First time trying their cake from a friend that bought me a piece and it was outstanding. Also the quipe, yuca balls and pastellitos were delicious. I decided to go back to try some more awesome cake and first thing the line was out the door. Not too bad as there were 8 people in front of me waiting to order. A lot of people were looking to order slices of cake and food and a lot of stuff wasn't ready and people had to place an order or come back as were instructed from the ladies working there!!! Hardly anyone speaks both english and spanish there so that was also a negative points in my opinion. After waiting so long and not having anything to take home i tried to order a cake for my daughters upcoming birthday and only one person was capable of taking the order in which she was dealing with another customer in which they had messed up on their order. So after waiting so long they wanted me to wait for the only person their that can take an order for a simple cake of one flavor and to me that is the dumbest thing i heard as someone can write this down and take my number and call me back to discuss the cake details etc etc... Today i called again in which was feb 3rd for a cake order for the 8th and they told me that wasnt sufficient time to place the order for the cake as they needed more time to make a cake for a few days out. This is has to be the worst and i mean the worst customer service i seen in a long time and i will not be placing or coming here to order again. To whoever the manager or owner of this place has to sit down and train their workers to par before opening their doors again and getting things organized and prepared for a daily workload of operation. Place makes some good cake but i wouldn't recommend a soul here if u think u gonna come here and think u gonna get A1 customer service and your not unless ur a food blogger. How you come from long distance to a place and do not have cake for sale when this is a cake place. If cake is being baked in the morning and their no cake by 1 pm then common sense would b to bake more cakes or have certain time slots when the cake will b ready to serve to customers!! this goes to the food as well!!! they sell food but nothing was ready n had to wait an hour for some pastellitos and yuca balls. Also ordered some cake after the time they told me to come back to find out the cake i had asked for was not guayaba and it was dulce de leche in the bag and for a cake being almost 6 to 7 a piece this is frustrating. I wont be back here for a while until they get more organized and have sufficient food and cake to supply for the daily operation. This place should b reeking in cash but their unorganization skills make them lack that presence and need more people to speak both languages as we live in NY and not in DR. no pun intended but they have...

Let’s start off, so I put in my cake order the lady asked me to confirm the color of the kind of red I wanted 3 times very throughly . I told her Burgundy she wrote it down. She also asked me if I wanted everything that’s on this cake. I told her yes, besides the glitter on top . I also wanted the bows she said okay 1 pound it’s $172.00 , $177.16 with tax I said okay it would be ready at 3pm . My husband gets there at 2:30 the cake wasn’t even made nothing they looking at him like he’s crazy they start making the cake in a rush I’m assuming he leaves with it finally around 3:12 so it was rushed he gets home shows me and I’m pissed the red color is off the bows ain’t on so I hit up they ig and this is the response oh we can put the bows like um it’s too late then apparently no one told her about the color ? I saw the girl at night who wrote the color down on the receipt ya rushed the cake and f-u-kked up with the price I paid I’m pissed to make everything worse it tasted horrible it was stiff hard DRY heavy and tasted like artificial sweetener the cream was powdery the cake was so dense and tasted off the caramel is uneven layered I’m convinced ya pay people for reviews and the service is horrible I would leave a comment on ya ig but I know yall delete it this is a horrible Dominican bakery do not waste ya time or money . I wish I could dispute the dam price I paid for this garbage only thing I got from this was one cute picture I had to filter so the cherry matched the dam icing . I never write reviews, however due to the experience I had with this bakery I needed to share my experience.

I placed an order on 2/19 for a custom cake to be picked up on 2/23. I contacted the WhatsApp number and communicated with a woman named Nicole who took down my order and told me that the time she had available for pick up was 4pm that Sunday. I paid the deposit and everything was great. I get a call on Sunday around 2pm from the bakery that they were having “electrical problems” and there was going to be a delay with the cake. I asked her what was the new time to pick up, to which she answered that she couldn’t give me a set time and that she will call me in 30-40 minutes to give me an update. That call never happened. I texted and called the WhatsApp number to try to get in contact with a person to get an update on the cake and never received a response. I called the bakery around 5pm to ask for an update. I gave my information to the woman who picked up the phone, who kept asking another woman in the store about my order and got hung up on. I then called again for them to tell me that it would be ready in about an hour. Mind you it was 5:16pm when they told me that and I was supposed to originally go pick it up at 4pm. I was already frustrated by this point. I get to the bakery at 6:30pm to pick up the cake and it still wasn’t ready. They tell me that it’s still not ready and to give them until 6:55pm. The cake was handed to me at 7:05pm. I wish I would’ve read the reviews before hand because I would’ve never did...
