Marmar — Restaurant in New York

Stay away from this place. Extremely understaffed. Food is just blah and overly priced. The one 18 year old waitress (a/c to the manager) is just so rude and full of attitude that it's unbelievable! She talks over you and blames you for her lack of serving skills and literllay tries to teach you how to dine her way. We ordered mar mar combo and some other side dish for the kids and were left unattended for over 40 minutes. When we asked the waitress to please take the dirty plates off of the table she said she was about to, she knows her job and that she s been doing this for two years!! What??? And later she stated that there is 1 of her 20 of us (we were only 5). When I asked to see the manager she said that I was just rude! Long story short .... Stay away from this place, save your precious money and have a pleasant time at some place where you are at least respected...

I absolutely love this place. As others have stated the food and ambiance are fantastic; staff and service are first rate. The music playing in the background seemed to enhance the experience.

Mar Mar is hands down in my top 5 Mediterranean Restaurants in NYC. The food alone rivals and or surpasses Mediterranean places where I've paid twice as much and wasn't allowed to enter without a blazer... here in NY and in other states!

Here's what we had:

Hummus - Chick Peas with sesame sauce, lemon juice and olive oil

Toshka - Grilled pita stuffed with ground meat and mozzarella cheese

Baba Ghanough - Grilled Eggplant dip with sesame sauce and lemon

Mar Mar Mixed Grill - Grilled Lamb (can be substituted with Filet Mignon), Chicken Kebab and Kufta

Everything was fresh, flavorful and delicious!

Do yourself a favor and visit Mar Mar. You won't be...

Food was good, but I haf to take off 2 stars

On the dessert tray, they added rose water which one of our party really dislikes. By request they did leave it off one item, but did not tell us it was still in the rice pudding and she had a very bad aftertaste even after leaving the restaurant. They should have mentioned it because she was very specific about it when ordering. Fortunately it was not an allergy.

They lost the other star because when we were seated, each of us got a bottle of water. We ASSumed it was because their tap water had problems, but surprise! -- with refills, the water at $2/bottle was about 10% of the check! Thats a big price for Poland Spring or whatever brand it was.

Highly annoying because they didn't ask, so we won't...
