We are visiting family in NY ( we live in Houston TX) and came to Palace Cafe for brunch. There were no printed menus, just an electronic one, so we has to see the menu that way. If we missed something, we had to wait for the whole menu cycle to start over. The restaurant was not overly crowded but it seemed like there was only one employee there who was taking orders. This employee could now explain some of the things on the menu and just seemed overall annoyed that we were asking any questions at all. It seemed like we were expected to know everything about this establishment. Even if we were local Flatbush residents, I assume polite and courteous service would be given. While we were ordering, another customer rudely interrupted and instead of asking her to wait, the employee left us waiting to take care of her. The customer glared at us and said " Do you have a problem" as she gave her order. I gave this restaurant 2 stars because when we finally got our food, it was very good ( with generous portions). Also the physical space of the cafe was nice- kind of like a diner. I noticed on the way out that there was a shelf with sefarim, maybe so people could learn while they eat. Palace Cafe needs to remember though that " derech eretz kadma letorah". They need to improve on their customer service and respect for...
Read moreFood was good, but let me explain the drink situation, that was NOT good! They have their drink in vending machines, they say because folks steal drinks, ok. The machines were out of order so I told the guy who took our order, mind you were a group of 15 hungry, thirsty people, he tells the guy making pizza boxes to open the machines for us to pick a drink. I went over there and this guy started yelling at me and my friends "no you no pay, you can't take drink" I explained that we'll take our drinks to the register to pay. A friend came to pick out HER drink and he yelled at her too! "NO YOU NO PAY, SHOO". That guy should be relieved from being the drink Nazi and stick to folding pizza boxes where he doesn't need to interact with people! Chairs are very flimsy and fall over when you hang your coat, so get a coat rack! Bad...
Read moreI am 100% Italian and only discovered this gem because my coworkers eat Kosher. The eggplant parmigiana is better than I have ever had in any Italian restaurant in Brooklyn or in Italy. It is better than my own, than my Mom’s, then my Grandmas, you get the idea. I cannot tell you how many times now we have ordered trays of it to share with family and friends. It is always amazing. The pizza is also excellent. I have no idea who is cooking these delicacies in this particular kitchen, but I can taste the love they put in and I hope they see this review and realize how talented they are. Compliments...
