The people here are extremely rude. They messed up my entire order and when i tried to politely ask for clarification and help reordering my food over the phone, i was yelled at, talked over, accused of being incompetent and difficult, and repeatedly hung up on. I wasn’t even upset when i called i just asked for help and clarification (so i could reorder & give them my money a second time!) just to be treated like nothing. I do not EVER yell at or disrespect service workers especially, i was NOT raised that way and although i am a respectful repeat paying customer i was treated like dirt for no reason at all. The restaurant made the mistake, refused to help resolve it, so how am i the one who is incompetent/difficult and getting yelled at??? I’ve been eating here since I was a child and unfortunately will never give these people my money again. They’ve messed up my orders before but I usually let it go, accept the food, and give them a good rating anyway. But this time i called to resolve the issue and was yelled at by a grown adult woman. I never once raised my voice at the lady who refused to give her name, i never disrespected her or insulted her, although she did all those things to me. I don’t understand why someone so erratic and rude is allowed to work there. She has no self-control and should be retired if she’s decidedly computer illiterate and has horrible customer service. I am extremely disappointed in these people. Somewhere I usually love to dine-in and takeout is now completely off limits and i doubt they care or will address the issue.
SEE SCREENSHOTS: I have ordered the same items b4 on DoorDash & UberEats w/ NO issue but now suddenly i “don’t know how to use the apps” and “selected coffee so i got coffee”??? Is it me who’s incompetent or is it the person preparing my order??? The lady admitted she never used Uber Eats and doesn’t know what the menu says, but somehow is accusing ME of being incompetent and “doing the wrong thing”?? No accountability whatsoever. Even when i tried to teach her about the app she refused to listen and kept yelling & accusing ME of incompetence. This is a GROWN middle aged woman acting like this. The app REQUIRES you to make a coffee AND PREPARATION selection. That doesn’t mean i’m asking for coffee. I selected “Herbal Tea” as listed on their menu. I selected to have my tea with no cream and no sugar, I politely asked for everything on the side as you can see in the order notes like i always do. How is it me that’s being accused of incompetence and getting yelled at over their mistake??? I have ordered the exact same thing in the past as you can see from the picture and got NO ISSUES getting tea if i order tea. I was told “you can’t get herbal tea at that price only coffee, you ordered coffee”. Then why does your menu say HERBAL TEA?? And how have i gotten herbal tea at that price SEVERAL times before??? I put a screenshot for proof! I even asked “okay if you can’t get herbal tea by selecting herbal tea… how else am I supposed to order it??” The lady had no idea, accused me of incompetence, and yelled at me repeatedly for trying to explain that she was making a mistake. They have a “large tea” option on their menu, but I didn’t want large. I selected what i did because it comes as a SMALL HERBAL TEA, i know because I’ve ordered that same thing several times before. Is she new there??? She also didn’t even address the improper preparation of the eggs i ordered being too busy yelling at me over tea. TEA! It’s not even about money, Uber already issued the refund. I was going to reorder and give the money right back but not after this. Obviously the only difference this time was the person who prepared my order. She needs to go.
The young women there are ALWAYS polite and efficient, it’s the older women who make careless mistakes and always have nasty attitudes. It’s funny how my generation is always accused of being disrespectful, but this is how our “elders” act when being met with respect! And at your job?! Embarrassing and shameful, will NEVER...
Read moreI heard so much about how good the food was at King's Restaurant. My first visit there was to celebrate our pastor's birthday. We drove in from Charlotte, NC. I was very impressed with the portions from other plates. The food and menu looked spectacular. I ordered the seafood platter which advertised '3' pieces of fish and 6 shrimp and 2 sides. When my plate arrived it only had '2' pieces of fish and 6 shrimp and 2 sides. We advised the waitress that we were missing a piece of fish. The waitress was no help, so we requested to speak to the manager and one of the owners came to the table and said because of the price increase of fish it's only served with 2 pieces. So I said well they should change the menu and he told me it would cost to do that and they'd have to charge more. I asked repeatedly if they could make an exception and bring me 1 piece of fish like the menu read. The owner said sure, you can purchase it for $2+. I couldn't believe with our party of 7 he wouldn't honor this and we spent over $170.00+ tip at your establishment. The food looked delicious but by this time we had such a distaste that we couldn't enjoy our meal. This is a small principle and they displayed very poor customer service ethics and could care less about customer satisfaction. Honor what is printed on the menu or at least make sure the waitress informs their customers that even though the menu says 3 pieces of fish you're not going to get that!! You'll only get 2 pieces of fish with the seafood platter. Me and my family will never eat...
Read moreThere are two kings diners in Newark. There is one on Lyons ave which is the original Kings of the city and the second Kings on Clinton ave which is the one i'm currently reviewing. i would much rather go to the kings diner on clinton ave before the one on lyons ave. its almost like they are owned by two different people because there are two different experiences. My review will be about my experience with Kings on clinton and i wont discuss what i didnt like about the lyons location. when i went to kings diner i knew i made the right choice because none other than ras baraka, the mayor of newark was in the place like it was just a regular day in the neighborhood. the overall presentation from the cleanliness of the place, to the furniture in the place, and i even noticed they shined the wood all over the restaurant. when i saw that i knew this place was passionate about what they do because they make sure the little details were all taken care of. when i was seated i ate grilled salmon cakes, spinach, and grits and my soul almost melted from the deliciousness of the food, i could not believe how good the food was. my waitress was so kind and courteous and made sure every last need or want of mines was catered to. i was under the weather and my waitress gave me a hot cup of lemon ginger tea with honey without me even asking for it she just told me to "drink this it'll make ya feel better" and she was so right i felt relief as soon as i left the place. Good job Kings you got a...
