As a person who wants to support black owned healthy businesses. My experience the last two times was extremely disappointing. I’ve been the only customer the last two times I’m there. The last time I had a meeting with my manager and the owner had the music so loud it sounded as if I was in a night club, which was embarrassing. I get it’s not a coffee shop, but had no idea that that was the vibe. The second time I walk in, it’s quiet, except there are multiple children under the age of 7 in the kitchen with the owner, sure that’s not legal. I’m again the only customer and mid meeting she starts blasting the music, I ask her kindly to turn it down and she rudely said she needs it to work. No one greeted me as I walked in either. I asked for wifi, and she claims she has no password. The place is expensive, but the food has always been okay. It’s okay to get food to go there. But don’t be fooled it’s ghetto. 🤷🏽♀️. Girl give it up. You’re not professional. Your hours change constantly, and aren’t ever in real time, I’ve purchased from you almost every time I visited. And yes kids behind a kitchen counter is illegal. Be happy no one reported...
Read moreBeautiful & serene dining inside. The owner and staff are hospitable and kind. The plant based food is the BEST!! There’s no place like Plants & Poets. I love all Sheena’s plant-based restaurants in Newark. Zucchini Bar, Blueberry cafe, AquaFit & Magic Cones. This is REAL whole foods & clean ingredients that’s soulful, seasoned goodness! I had the Young Hendrix (a bowl of delicious fennel chipotle seasoned “meat”, wild rice, chick peas, guacamole, & “sour cream “). I also tried the Coach Malik (waffles, maple links & scrambles (from chickpea flour). So good! It reminded me of a big breakfast I used to eat before I went plant based 5 years ago. I had some dessert pastries on the house! So good! Thank you Sheena!
It’s in the hood (where I grew up). But it’s so worth it! It’s beautifully decorated inside. It’s great to have healthy options for the community, especially in a food desert.
Check it out! You won’t be disappointed. And you don’t have to be vegan to enjoy this...
Read moreThis was an utter waste of money. We got 2 Pattie La melts, Elderberry sweet tea, and the Redman sangria.
First, the sweet tea tasted like it was made with tap water. Apparently it has seamos in it, but from someone who uses seamos for smoothies I can tell the seamos was not properly cleaned. The juice tasted like old dirty water. The Redman ‘ sangria’ tasted like rose water(?) and perfume.
The sandwiches were packed in such an odd way, the moment I grabbed it felt apart and made a mess in my car. The patties were incredibly unseasoned, and they drowned them in barbecue sauce.
I love supporting small owned business, but it is really upsetting when they have such HIGH prices for the quality of the food. If I could give 0...
