Listen here, I had to think long and hard about writing a review, especially one that was not going to be very flattering. However, after speaking w/quite a few people (most of whom had a similar experience w/OMG), I decided to share my experience w/full transparency.
So let's get to it...my experience was downright HORRIBLE! Let me explain as best I can w/o being too lengthy (if that's possible).
Ok, I am a foodie, and will travel anywhere for good food/service. My family also owned a restaurant so I totally understand what it takes to make a restaurant successful. W/that said, from the moment I walked in people were complaining about the wait. U could literally cut the tension in the air w/a knife. Now, I don't mind waiting because good food takes time...so I'm ok w/that. However, many of the people did not feel the same way. They may have ordered 1 or 2 small things and had to wait nearly an hour...so they were very upset.
When I finally get to the register I asked if they had real or imitation crab meat. The young lady (who was great) said she did not know and to let her ask (which was the appropriate thing to do). A little guy w/dreads gave her attitude when she asked the question. So I then asked, and he replied that it was real crab meat. Now I am starting to get annoyed because the bad customer service reviews that I read prior to going are starting to show face. I finally place my order and go wait outside. While outside many of the people going in and out are complaining about either the wait or the service...I mean mostly everyone (no exaggeration).
People who left and came back nearly an hour later still found that their food was not ready. One older lady ordered 2 items but they only gave her one and made her wait for the other. Why not have both ready at the same time? That didn't make sense! Anyhow, the elderly woman also mad because people who had come in and ordered way after she did, got their food first. She was not happy, to say the least.
So I would go back and forth between the waiting area and outside so I could check on my food. One time doing so, the little guy w/the dreads was mumbling and no one knew what he was saying. He looked my way and I didn't respond because I had no clue what he was saying. Finally, we realized that he was calling a name (which no one understood). He then turns to the owner and makes some seemingly unprofessional comments, and they both start giggling like school kids. It was very disrespectful as well as a complete turn-off. Then, they turn on the music (gangsta rap w/the curses), and blast it like they're in a club. People couldn't hear u before, so y would u would blast music now. As the music blasted, the owner was putting on an all out concert. How can u sing, rap and dance over people's food while ur cooking....and it's super hot in there? So now it's ok to spit and drip sweat in people's food? Unbelievable!
So as I sit there staring at them, they continue to mumble things about me (I assume). Because I was not happy by any means. I was sitting w/a few ladies and they were appalled w/the service and behavior as well. One said she and her husband experienced the same thing a few days earlier, and the other lady said she'd never come back.
When I finally got my food (after 40 plus minutes or so), I noticed that my container was very messy. They just throw U a bag to bag ur own food, and when some people told me to check how it looked....I was mortified. My food looked nothing like the pictures...i mean nowhere close. I was on đ„! I will post pictures so u guys can see what i'm talking about.
Also, when the guy brought my food up he said to the owner, this is his...which really disturbed me. If he was cooking, how did he know what I ordered? Did u purposely mess up my food or do something to it? And I'm not implying that he or anyone did. However, when have such poor customer service, people are cussing and acting inappropriately, it makes u think the worst.
In closing, I want them to succeed but they have to do better. Extremely...
Read moreIt was very crowded inside this very small establishment.. but the most distasteful thing is to walk in & hear/see the owner have a LOUD conversation with a customer about the lack of intelligence his customers have & I quote "I'm arguing with a MFer who can't spell kindergarten.. or don't know the capital of Jersey.... I retired because I have high blood pressure anything I do makes it go up. So I made this place to sit here if I want to.. this ain't no hotdogs stand that gets a line of 50 & they only spending $2, each person in here spending over $20".. the arrogance, unprofessionalism & daftness of this owner was disheartening to experience! The lack of respect & decency he has towards the patrons is appalling.. they r the reason as u say "ur establishment if #1 in the city! Please become more compassionate & do better.. also find a way to notify customers that u have sold out of items. I waited on that line yesterday for 15 mins 2 get to the cashier to be told u sold out of the oxtail cheesestake.. having to listen 2 ur negative views for 15 mins was a waste of my time & the main reason I didn't choose 2 order anything else from ur menu.. BE A BETTER HUMAN
Google won't let me reply.. however, that was the wrong place to display ur poor comedic nontalent.. the conversation was ridiculously loud, distasteful & belittling of patrons who CHOOSE to spend their money there.. & IG only says 1st come 1st serve as speciality items are only available wen posted.... it says about nothing about u notifying people wen those items r sold out! So I stand by my precious statement.. u should have a sign that is visible to all incoming costumers of which speciality items have been sold out, so noone is forced 2 b subjected 2 ur poor comedy while they...
Read moreThe sad part is this review is not even about the food. The food is actually good. Itâs the service. Today was my 2nd time driving from Jersey City to Newark for food. The first time we came later in the evening and pretty much everything we wanted to order off the menu was sold out. We ended up settling for what was available and we were actually pleased with the food. Today we came by again but this time we came early afternoon at 3pm. As soon as we got to the counter we were told by the girl at the counter that there was no flour. I expressed that I should have called first after becoming instantly annoyed. The young lady responded âyea calling wouldnât have made a difference anywayâ which I guess explains why they donât answer the phone. We asked her for an estimate and let her know that we drove 20 mins for the food so we just wanted to know if it would be better to wait or go. She basically told us she couldnât give us an estimate. I just thought in my head âfor FLOUR, how long could that really take?â I donât know if it was an excuse or anything but this is the 2nd time interacting with this young lady and itâs always the same dull unapologetic energy. If the expression âWelpâ was a person it would be her. Definitely not wasting anymore gas money on this place. FOOD is GREAT! OPERATIONS and CUSTOMER SERVICE needs major improvement. But if your in the neighborhood and have time to waste, check it out! You may catch them on a good night and have a bomb...
