FIRST TIME AND LAST TIME TRYING THEM. I ordered 2 burgers and a milkshake on 01/27/2019 via GrubHub for delivery and received terrible service from all avenues. First the food was prepared quickly but the driver took over an hour to pick up the food. When the order arrived, it was missing one of the two burgers and the milkshake was missing a straw and spoon (i requested a spoon). I refused the order at the door and driver refused to take it back. I walk in the door and check the burger and the lettuce was warm and you could tell the burger was made awhile ago and sat for awhile under heat.
I contact GrubHub and they called the restaurant on my behalf. They came back and told me the manager would have the second burger delivered to me. GrubHub also told me I would receive a $10 credit to my next order for the trouble.
Four hours later, still no burger. I almost forgot about it until I started getting hungry for dinner. So I call GrubHub back and explain to them the issue. They call the restaurant again. They come back and tell me the manager (John) argued with them over issuing a full refund and that I would only receive a refund for the shake and the missing burger. GrubHub also told me there was no $10 credit issued by the last rep. In addition I was told the delivery was provided by a third party called Habitat and not GrubHub.
So here is basically the issues here...
Long story short, I want to be clear that I was not trying to get this order for free. I wanted to be treated like a valued customer, I wanted to receive a correct order, and I most certainly do not want to be treated like i'm a deadbeat that don't pay for their orders. I really did not appreciate being treated like I was trying to get over on them when I was the one with the bad experience. Hey thats fine. I always vote with my wallet. ...
Read moreWOW! DON'T EVER ORDER TAKE OUT FROM THIS LOCATION.If you do decide to order take out after reading this review or a couple of others below, make sure you check your bag BEFORE YOU PAY OR LEAVE THE LOCATION. Here was my recent experience, I recently placed a take out ordered on a summer evening around 5:30pm... no big deal a couple of burgers and some sides including french fries. When I arrived to pick up my food, there was absolutely no one in the place so it was not an issue of them being too busy to get my order correct. My food was in a bag sealed up with a 'Jake's' sticker and my receipt attached so I did not check inside the bag. I foolishly assumed that the 3 people working at the time would get my order correct. When I arrived home with the food, a large french fry I ordered was not in the bag. I called the restaurant and explained that I did not get the french fries that I had paid for but they insisted that they had packed the fries in the bag with the rest of the food. I told them they did not and I would return to pick them up. When I arrived they DID NOT have french fries waiting for me and instead continued to maintain that they had given me the fries in the bag. It is at this point that I began to get upset, incensed that they would accuse me of trying to scam them out of french fries that I had paid for. I ended up arguing with the jerk behind the counter for a few minutes as he assured me he was the one who packed my order and insisted that the french fries were in the bag. I asked for the manager at the location and it turns out the jerk I was arguing with was the manager. He proceeded to call me a liar and tell me that "I should show him more respect". I assured him that I would not be leaving without the french fries I paid for. He continued with the worst attitude I have ever seen for someone working directly with customers, even mocking me at one point (this last straw almost got the guy pulled across the counter and punched in the face!) If I were the owner of this location, the "manager" would be IMMEDIATELY FIRED!!! I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM THIS LOCATION AGAIN!! If you have a craving for burgers in Newark, DO NOT GO HERE, I recommend Red Robin or the Jakes on Ogletown Road, they pay alot more attention to getting things right and...
Read moreUpon arrival, one member of staff was outside on her cell while smoking…no problem, as I understand she was taking a break while no one inside. As we approached the door she asked if we were there to place or pick up an order and we advised to place one. She ended her call and smoke and came inside to attend to us. The problem is she came in, sat her phone near the sink, put on some gloves and started taking our orders (mask over mouth, but not nose). You were at the sink! Why not wash your hands?! So I didn’t say anything at first because maybe she’s just taking the orders, but then another member of staff who was in the dining area eating and drinking and came straight behind the counter and puts on gloves to begin cooking our food. I at first politely asked why no one was washing their hands, loud enough for both of them to hear, however they ignored my question. I literally had to pause placing our order and ask everyone to wash their hands. I also reminded them that even though they are wearing gloves, they picked up the gloves with dirty hands so basically the gloves are pointless at that point. Even without being in a pandemic, it’s hygienic and mandatory to wash hands when you are handling food. The thing is, no one is oblivious, we all know that many fast food workers do not wash their hands, or are not properly cleaning, but for the love of life, when you are in front of customers at least do the right thing. If you don’t have the decency to wash your hands in front of us, what are you doing when we...
