Sportsman is much more than just a bar...it's a family restaurant as well. I have now eaten here twice and have to admit they can cook up a pretty mean steak. The staff here is friendly and what you would expect to find in a small town establishment. The food is good, and the steaks I have had twice now have been cooked correctly. The dining room area could use a facelift. I personally am not a fan of the lodge feel with stuffed dead animals all over the place. But, I suppose when you have the name "Sportman" it is fitting to have that décor. In the main bar area there are a few tables and 1 pool table. At the back of the dining room there is a stage area where they will have local acts come in to perform. Depending on the time of year will determine just how busy they will be. But its a great place to grab a bite to eat and unwind...
Read moreIt was great, we had gotten the gator bites appetizer which was surprisingly really good. That was my first time trying gator and I would highly recommend it from this place for sure. They served it with their homemade gator sauce which literally makes every bite melt in your mouth. We also had the perch and blue gil for our main plates and those both were great as well. The perch is on point i'd choose that again any day for sure. It was a bit pricey I'm not going to lie but again what we got was super good so I kinda figured it was very well going to be. Our server was great very attentive and always right there. Never had to ask her for anything she was super on top of her game. So it was overall great, every aspect. My two year old baby girl absolutely loves all the animals displayed all around so that...

So I thought I would give it a chance, and unfortunately the "new Sportsman's" is a whole lot of the same disappointing place as before. The changes to the menu are that some items are no longer available (like the deep fried green beans; huge disappointment!) The service is still SLOW (and not overly friendly either.) I will say it did seem cleaner then before. Maybe in a few months all the "new changes" will be in full effect, and it sounds like they will be great, but right now I would say skip the Sportsman's... there are way to many BETTER choices to eat at...
