Corporate Q is what I usually call this place. Not only is it walking distance from many of the hotels travelling businessmen and local office put their staff up at, but it's right by the airport too. Freeway and toll road accessible, and not hard to find. It's perfect for after work drinks with co workers. I call the crowd here the khaki army. Long sleeve buttom ups, khaki pants and business casual office crowd.
Irvine is not known for their bar's and this place calls themselves a pool hall, but a dozen tables around the outside of a bar is not what I'd call pool hall. I also like to call it smartphone central. They should really put in USB ports into the group tables. It's a sportsbar with decent food because around 8 when the yuppies have had their HH fun and wander back to their rooms some of the local sports fan show up.
It looks like an old club house, a steak house that was revamped and all the outter rooms attached to be pool areas. The main layout of this place is very strange and often the parking lot full with all the other business around the area. If you don't feel like paying $8 for a pint of non local and non craft beer stock up at Airport wine and spirits a backroad away from this place. Saves you on the minibar and your expense report for those of us not sucking on the company Amex teet.
Probably 50+ TV's, group tables 1 small couch in the corner, carpet and upholstered and wood stools. Classic pub feel. Attractive waitress and servers, but the bar staff is decidedly slow. You will never see them in high gear so don't blame the servers for your extended wait. Solid security also runs the sticks/ball rental near the front entrance. Bathrooms are really small considering the square footage. Vending machine sells cigarettes at a mark up. Full bar, healthy amount of high prices spirits.
Food is actually quite good for barfood and my usual bar food rule of not eating it doesn't apply to...
Read moreThe place is nice, unfortunately the server never came to ask us if we needed more drinks until the end of the night. When we asked her for the menu she pointed to us where to go get it and then she never came back to ask us what we wanted to have until about two hours later when the kitchen was about to close. We paid $44 dollars for 3 glasses of Guiness and 1 Jack Daniel's and about $40 dollars for 3 hours of pool. Of course we didn't tip server because of the lack of service. Over all we spent $90 dollars and left the place hungry. I had some feeling that maybe they don't like Hispanics coming around this bar since it's in the City of Newport. Don't get me wrong, the place has an upscale vibe with upscale prices so this means it's nice looking with nice pool tables, and plenty of screens but I wished we had better service. I understand the server was busy with the group of about eight guys next to our table that got really drunk in a few hours but a minute of her time to ask us if we were ready to order while she was doing her round would've made a big difference in our experience at this place. I'm sorry for this harsh review but any bar can have a nice location, drunkards, pricey beer, food and good pool tables but the big difference comes in the quality service. I hope the group next to us left them a big tip. In the meanwhile I'll probably go somewhere else. Oh! and by the way, one star is for the screens, another star is for the pool tables, and the last one is for the barman that charged me about $22 greenbacks in exchange for two Guiness beers and had the courtesy of asking me, where is the server? I'm glad they care for them if they are missing.
PS. If you still reading, congratulations! because you are very thorough 😜 I hope you have a better time than me if you made it to this joint.
Remember: DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE! 'cause it's like burning over $10,000 dollars...
Read moreBeing that this is a sports bar the food is good and a bit overpriced . Our server Sydney, was not pleasant or helpful at all she had no smile on her face and her demeanor read as if she did not want to be there . The place was packed and we happen to be at a table closest to the TV screens and she would hardly ever came by to ask if we needed something and when she did it took her a very long time. Keep in mind the place was packed and the other servers would do everything they could to assist their assigned tables which were hard to get to like our table was, but still the other servers made the effort pretty often. This place is fast pace and people do get rowdy which my group of 3 including myself was not at all . Where has customer service gone??? In my opinion down the drain now a days. When we asked to close out and I signed and paid ... Sydney immediately came back to ask was there something wrong ... (she came by because I left a tip to justify her service was not good at all). I do understand the service industry, but I believe in when service is not good I will not pay the minimum of 15% ... hence alot of places now have it calculated at the bottom beginning with 18%... getting back to her asking if anything was wrong... I replied with, "you barely acknowledged us and it took forever for you to check on us" . She was too busy flirting with all the Male...
