Sessions West Coast Deli — Restaurant in Newport Beach

Was recommended to us by several people to try, so we were excited to say the least. We came one night at just before 6pm but they were closing, so we dicided to come back 2 days later to try this “amazing” place. The menu looked like it was in line with friends reviews, when we walked in 5:25pm with a bigger group, we were greeted with a death stare by the 2 guys behind the counter. If you want to try this place and not get treated like a “pita”, arrive well in advance of close. We all felt like we were a burden to the staff. The food was cold….fries were cold, burgers were cold, chicken was cold, it was mid at best. They wouldn’t let me pay with cash, took the water cooler down right after we ordered, but before we got drinks. Not a good experience. I can think of a hundred different ways to overpay for food and still be treated well. Tip for the owner….pay your people for an extra 1/2 hour after close so you don’t lose customers with the terrible attitudes your people have. I worked in the food industry, it...

So I have to preface this by saying I usually go to the sessions West Coast deli at South Coast Plaza- I always get the same thing; the Thai chop and the rosemary french fries and both are amazing. Today I happen to go to Fashion Island and tried the sessions over there ; while very beautiful inside and still friendly service, the Thai chop just was not the same. I can’t quite put my finger on it but definitely not the same salad! like the lettuce was different. It seemed like it was maybe.. wilted lettuce?.. no toasted coconut.. The watermelon radish was way too thick instead of the nicely, thin sliced pieces at South Coast- and the fries did not have any rosemary on them. Sessions is one of my favorite fast casual spots for a delicious and satisfying meal on the go! Their menu is fantastic, notable mentions are the Morning Zephyr, tuna melt, Thai chop salad and their soup-and-sandwich combo—all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Every dish has a little something special that sets it apart, taking the ordinary to extraordinary. The coffee is good too!
