We (a party of two) arrived around 6:30pm on a Saturday night and it was moderately busy, but no wait and plenty of tables. As we were being seated, my boyfriend got a call from his brother and ignored it. We proceeded to order a beer each and appetizer along with our entrees at the same time. Weâre a quiet, unassuming, friendly couple out for a quick dinner, which we donât do often.
Service was expedient and we ate pretty quickly as we normally do. Upon finishing our meal, server asked if we wanted dessert, which we declined but asked for the bill. We gave her our credit card when she returned with the bill and weâre just finishing our beers when the hostess approached our table and told us we were over our 1.5 hour limit. I was both baffled and annoyed as I knew there was no way we had been there for anywhere close to 1.5 hours. There were two tables near us that both were there before us and been served before us but were sitting and still drinking their second round of drinks. I told her that was impossible and she started to hand us her iPad to âprove the time we arrivedââŠwho does this?!?! My boyfriend looked at his phone to see what time his brother called and it was exactly 45 minutes earlier.
We were so annoyed by the rudeness/audacity of the hostess to argue with us and the whole situation that we asked to speak with the manager who was apologetic, but hostess never returned to apologize. Even IF we had been there for 90 minutes, gauge the situation- we had already paid and were finishing our last inch of beer. To come to a table and treat people like the table will explode at 90 minutes (again, even IF we had been there for 90 minutes) when there are literally no people waiting to sit down (we could see the hostess stand) and lots of extra tables is just ridiculous. And restaurants wonder why they lose business- we...
Read moreFood was mid, definitely overpriced. You are paying for the convenience / location.
For lunch on a Thursday, I ordered the blat, my sister ordered the falafel, and my mom ordered a salad with dressing on the side.
The blat had 0 flavor. I tried the shrooms on their own and they werenât very good, my sister enjoyed the flavor though, so perhaps itâs a matter of preference. The regular French fries had more pizazz in my opinion. Iâve had better sandwiches at TOGOs or subway to be fairly honest. For $22, I expected way more. I tried adding jalapenos and salt, but the saving grace was some salad dressing to the sandwich. The waiter was kind to share a free dessert card for the next time we come back, but I personally wonât likely be back at their prices and plant based options.
The falafel was dry, but itâs rare falafel is done right when eating out, so iâm not surprised. My sister appreciated extra tzatziki sauce to add some moisture to her meal.
My momâs salad came without dressing, but that was an easy fix. She was the only one to have rave reviews about her salad. She loved the vibrancy of the watermelon radishes and overall freshness of her greens.
The atmosphere was clean and sophisticated, but thatâs to be expected when dining at fashion island.
Perhaps their breakfast or non-plant based options are better. For 3 meals and no alcoholic beverages at $100, the meal was overpriced and underwhelming. I did appreciate the waiter being receptive to the feedback, and the overall atmosphere of the location. However, I probably wonât be back on...
Read moreDuring our frequent visits to Fashion Island in Newport Beach, we recently decided to give Great Maple a try due to their dog-friendly policy. However, we encountered several disappointing aspects during our experience. Firstly, the Lavender Lemonade we ordered turned out to be excessively sweet, overwhelming our taste buds. Similarly, the Moroccan tea failed to meet our expectations in terms of flavor and quality. Furthermore, we were taken aback when the fried chicken dish emitted an unpleasant fish odor, which greatly affected our dining experience. The falafel we ordered was unfortunately undercooked, leaving us dissatisfied with its texture and taste.
Moreover, we faced challenges with the service as well. We had to repeatedly request water, as it took longer than anticipated to be served. Additionally, we noticed that the Puppy Patty, a dog-friendly option, had oil and appeared to have been prepared using the same grill as regular food, which raised concerns about cross-contamination. This left us feeling uneasy about the overall hygiene standards.
Regrettably, our negative experience didn't end there. After our meal, some members of our family complained of feeling unwell, experiencing symptoms of sickness and bloating.
We hope that Great Maple takes our feedback constructively, addressing these issues to ensure a more enjoyable and satisfying dining experience for future patrons. We will not...
