I have never been to Zov's but I've heard great things. The restaurant is located in a quaint shopping center near Sharkey's and Pomodoro. We had a reservation for 10 and they accommodated us with a long table in the back. Our server was cordial and was able to split off my check upon request. The food is a mix of Middle Eastern, Armenian and Mediterranean with a full bar. They also serve an angus sirloin and burgers. There's a wine list, beer list and a cocktail menu too.
Donald S. recommended the golden lentil soup which was a hit with our table. I also ordered some baba ghanoush ($8.95) to share. I had the cucumber mint fresca ($11.50) which was really refreshing and delicious. My entree was the pan-seared bass ($22.95). My tablemates tried: lamb sandwich ($13.95), spinach & ricotta ravioli, salads, chicken kebob, and filet medallions ($25). All were good selections since everyone seemed to enjoy their food and drinks. My bass although "pan-seared" did not have any crispiness to my disappointment. I did enjoy it with the citrus jasmine rice, asparagus, and tomatoes. It was good but not great. The baba ghanoush was ok too. I did have a bite of my friend's lamb sandwich which was delicious and the filet medallions were very tender. We even ordered some desserts to share: key lime tart, chocolate bomb, and bread pudding. Of the 3, I really liked the bread pudding. The chocolate bomb was good but it was overkill for me. Overall, we had good food with great service and conversation with awesome friends. We'll definitely continue our dinner series but maybe we'll move into numbers before restarting the...
Read moreMaybe the most important reason why I like this restaurant is its proximity to my residence. Other than that, the staff are really personable, and friendly. The restaurant has certainly some character, which makes it memorable. From the nicely decorated and planted outside seating to the comfy faux leather inside seating, you can easily spend your time either alone or conversing with others. The quality of food is good but not a wow. That said, the restaurant mainly offers Mediterranean food, somewhat innovative. I have had tons of wonderful Mediterranean food. Although arrogance is not intended, I really have high standard for that. That's why this place is a 4 star and not 5 for me, given the fact that 5 is the highest rate you would give a place. I go there pretty often. The price is not outrageous even for a student budget. It's certainly affordable for the clientele as I've observed. But around here, there are probably cheaper options available. The wine selection is ok but not the main strength here. I'd say decor and staff are their strength. They can still perfect their food and wine selection. You don't want to have your anniversary's dinner here but if you wanna have a romantic dinner every so often...
Read moreHorrible experience. My family and I have been going to this location for years, quality of food and service just continues to go down.
We ordered everything with the first server who did not place our orders in the system. Our second server had no idea what our appetizers, entrees, and drinks were. We told her and she still messed up the order when we gave it to her. Never received one of the appetizers we ordered, she still charged us.
Plates were piled up and we had to repeatedly ask for things. Sea bass and steak were extremely overcooked. Beef on the kebabs were all different sizes and cooked at different temperatures. I had several pieces about the size of a quarter and then, pieces that were 5x that. Thus, even though I ordered medium-rare, most were also overcooked.
Manager ignored my mom waving to him so we asked bus staff to speak to him, he still never came over.
After complaining to our second server, no amends were taken and she did not even apologize. Absolutely ridiculous to pay 200 for a overcooked dinner with...
