Blacker’s is my very favorite challah in all of Boston. Always soft and fluffy and great texture. Just the right amount of sweetness without tasting like cake. Boston has a lot of challah options, most are good. Blacker’s is my favorite! (I don’t live near them, but on Fridays you can usually buy Blacker’s challah at S&S Deli in Inman Square.) For the full Megillah, with all of the topping options, hit up their main location. Also, their Boston Cream Pie is literally the best I’ve ever had anywhere in the country. It’s parve (non-dairy) and so, so good. I used to work for a national pie restaurant in California and our Boston Cream Pie was good, but Blacker’s is better. (Even better than the Omni, where it was invented—-shhhh!). My only wish is that Blacker’s has more locations. Highly recommend their cakes. I came here to get a kosher cake for a party for a coworker.

I called ahead, but they don’t allow cake ordering in advance. I arrived 9:50am before they open at 10am on Fridays. The line was already six people deep. Their cake case had some great options, and three of us in line were there for cakes.

I got a 6” vanilla cake with chocolate frosting that easily served 8+ people with plenty to spare. They were happy to add writing on the cake. The woman before me had a more complicated message in both English and Hebrew, which they were also able to do. Upon request, they added a few kosher stickers to seal the box.

A few moms who also have kids with food allergies recommended Blacker's for my kid's custom cake. I want to share my very pleasant experience. I received a phone call within an hour or two of emailing my initial request...on a day they are closed. They were patient and helpful during the ordering process. I was a bit nervous that my vision would not be fulfilled after a disappointing custom cake experience at a different bakery for his 1st birthday.
