We have not returned into the restaurant to know if service is any better, but the food is still amazing (we order delivery often). Hence I am revising my rating upwards to 4stats. We’ll continue ordering from here for sure: the food is just very good! ——— Have to reduce my rating from 5 to to 2 stars. Food remains excellent, but tonight I got yelled at by the guy who assigns your table. My kids wanted inside but there wasn’t space inside. So I said, outside is ok. But then my kids wouldn’t go outside. So, when I went out to discuss the situation the server started yelling at me as he apparently he didn’t appreciate the 1 min wait while we sorted out sitting preferences. He thought I knew that the restaurant next door was also their property. I did not know that. That’s where they had tables available, inside. He did not apologize for yelling at me and I didn’t address this issue because I didn’t want to be punched in the face the same day. The guy has obvious anger issues. Needless to say that I will not return. This is a pity because we live in the area and this was one of my favorite restaurants.
Here is my previous review from our first visit:
This place is amazing. We were 3 adults and 2 kids and all loved our food. All preferences we’re satisfied: Vegetarian, mea eater, picky eater. Delicious. The “eggplant delight” was so tasty. The eggplant was cooked perfectly (smooth and creamy), the tofu was full of flavor and the sauce was yummy, not molasses like. So happy we found this place! Thanks to the owners and team for such beautifully...
Read moreNested at the edge of Newton Center is Coconut Cafe, a small but mighty Thai restaurant which serves up some delicious and affordable Thai fare. The place doesn't seat too many people, probably about fifteen but they do seem to be doing a lot of takeout business. We went there over the weekend to get some lunch and were not disappointed.
Appetizers will run you between $5.25 and $7.75 and range from edamame to spring rolls and even coconut pancakes which I had never seen before but sound awesome. We stuck with some veggie rolls ($5.75) and they were great. Crisp, fresh and the sauce worked very well.
Then came the entrees, including the Pineapple and Peppers Stir-fry I ordered and my wife's Panang Curry. While I can't recall the price on those, they were both affordable and the portion was just right. Actually now that I think about it, the lunch menu is cheaper than the dinner one there and we ended up eating for about $26 which was great value, especially considering the quality.
The place was clean, the staff friendly and the whole ordeal took about 40 minutes. I'm delighted to see this place do well and look forward to returning in the future, whether it be at this location or their...
Read moreTasty and quality food. Was turned on to them by a good friend. I have eaten there 4-5 times already. Highly recommended the Indonesian Rice. But I take customer service seriously as I am a business owner and treat all my customers with care and respect no matter what. I ordered my food which totaled $25.00. As I was waiting for the meal to be prepared I asked for a glass of water as they are also a dine in restaurant with wait service. As the girl at the front was tending to my request a straight faced man poked his head out from behind the curtain between the counter and the kitchen and asked me if I had placed an order as if he was going to deny my request for water if I had not placed a food order. Take it as to will. I took it as disrespectful. That rude move cost them 2 stars from me. But other than that a decent and prompt service usually. I will continue to visit them. But If that happens again I will not respond with kindness again....
