To the long time Great Beijing restaurant Lincolnwood, yes, there are times, you are on the verge to needing of a complete personality makeover. by your employee wait staff servers. I has the younger waitress dictating sneakily to me with black hair and glasses. I have been liking to able at going into the establishment for flavored tasty egg flower soup + an entree most times a couple times per month! Server ( waitress) does not going needing of informing me in your rude tone consistently time and time again on what time your 'kitchen is closing' for a sit down regular man. Not when it had been one hour in advance from when knowing that the doors close shut! . I know what time hours are. Do they really find this amusing? Such was the case just on the other weekend, even for a fluke stopping in. We returned from out of town also. Plopped to chill. Now, after some over 20+ years of loyalty as well even some dedication, the managers, they apparently have entrusted their same ole 'servers, which all they DO when is come up and say, " Oh early today?" , " Oh what do you like now, see they leave now real soon" within their accents ( when it is clearly one hour beforehand before doors closing) What I found , or never hear that the wait staff servers NEVER say to me or to anybody "hello, Happy holidays" or how is it going , as they would in other countries , like restaurant's from other ethnic cuisines or diner's are at doing so. I do not believe to being alone here, because of hearing some insight into 'service' on the floor over there by a couple members on through the grapevine within the past year. So even after 20 years of dedication to the pick up mainly at restaurant- or half an half, she never came around much- you ask for an extra thing like napkins. Any of you with this experience? The establishment has seem to be consistently wanting to come across for its servers as constantly pressed for time on the floor, a feeling always tired or else not wanting at checking on in , or maybe go to sleep. Maybe it would have MADE THE DIFFERENCE if I WAS a party of five or more from the waitress running that mumbling of her mouth? I guess so. Let's see how much the inappropriate waitress would mumble to a single diner under her breath, about kitchen closing and dishing out the food so hastily , when there is more in your party? Hmmm. Unbelievable.. Each time sneakily. As if you ( a loyal customer) is taking up the time of their day. Just needed on semi ranting and when my just sitting minding their own business going at a correct pace. It's the same case for a party of 5 or more - SMH!. Perhaps they do it with others. Those 'servers' are clearly not interested in being there often nor come on with a positive attitude speaking in generalities. Simply stated or even verbal by me," You just LOST your tip madame."
Thank You!
Happy New...
Read moreOur dog parent group attended for a birthday party lunch today. Everything looked beautiful, we had a wonderful time, this is a repeat destination! I departed from the menu and ordered salt and pepper shrimp🍤, a plate of kimchi and daikon pickles🥢, and a gin and tonic. Shrimp was offered with or without heads and tails, cooked just enough and perfectly seasoned with a handful of green onions and possibly jalapeño slices added at the end. So spicy salt and pepper shrimp. Kimchi was the dry type, always enjoy trying different people’s kimchi, and the daikon pickles were the sweet type, nice and crunchy. Gin and tonic strong, and lasted through lunch. There were unlimited pots of fragrant tea🫖. Felt extremely well-nourished! We did not make reservations, because we forgot to set up RSVP’s😶, and there was some doubt if there’d be more than a few people. Ended up with a party of seven at the last minute, which the maître d' accommodated with grace🤩. We sat less than five minutes as a large table was prepared. Nearly everyone wanted their own check😬, as we are all single parents except one couple. No problem at all. We brought a birthday cake🎂. No problem, restaurant brought out extra plates and forks for the cake we had not ordered from them 😅. This place was so nice, and provided such a good experience for our group. I’m on a medically restricted diet and eating out requires a lot of troubleshooting. I was so happy to be able to go out and share lunch with my friends, and it was so delicious; salt and pepper shrimp and pickles are some of my favorites! Thanks SO much to everyone at Great Beijing, we appreciate you for giving our friends a wonderful birthday...
Read moreWe’ve been coming here for decades, since I was in high school. And time after time this place excels. Now my sister-in-law brings her friends from NJ/NY to Great Beijing, and they all agree it’s some of the best Chinese, especially Korean-Chinese dishes. It’s the restaurant my parents almost exclusively eats at when they eat out. They’ve held large dinners here with guests, and we love having impromptu family dinners here. During the Covid shut-downs we did take out but love eating in, with crispy fried dishes and lovely sauces. My cousin who moved to the area from So.Cal. also thinks this place is better than the Korean Chinese restaurant of the same name in Garden Grove (it’s a place all Southern Californian Koreans know) from our childhood. Every friend I bring to this restaurant, regardless of heritage, loves it. They have great lunch specials too. The host has been the same gentleman for the past 2 decades and he’s friendly and enthusiastic and remembers us. The wait staff are also veterans and have stayed with the restaurant for ages. Quick, friendly service, food is slayed hot and delicious.
My go-tos: Yangjiangpi (seafood and pork and julienned veggies tossed in a mustard sauce, great as a salad) Kampoong shrimp Sweet and sour pork or beef Jjiajangmyeon Jjamppong Yusanseul (love the creamy sauce and scallops) Shrimp fried rice
I’ve had the 5-spiced cold sliced beef and some of the white soupy noodles and they’re all very good. Highly recommend,...
