I recently had my wedding at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (6/25/16). Food For Thought is their exclusive caterer which first of all made it very easy that I wasn't faced with options on that front and second because they are the only caterer who works this venue - everything was seamless. From the start Elyssa was very easy to work with. She was very good at keeping me on track, reminding me of what she needed from me and when while always remaining pleasant as she did so.
I handled my wedding myself without a planner and as I always have a lot on my plate with my job, it was not the easiest task balancing the two but I knew I could handle it. With people like Elyssa on my team, everything worked out. My husband and I were very impressed with the food the day we had our tasting, we had a tough time deciding on our passed hors d'oeuvres especially. Everything was delicious!! I really loved the chicken entree we choose and was excited to hear the feedback from the wedding. So many of our guests told us how much they enjoyed all the food during cocktail hour as well as everything during the dinner service. I received so many compliments on the chicken as I knew we would. It was so juicy and flavorful. Our ceremony was also held at the venue and Elyssa did an excellent job orchestrating the turnover from ceremony to reception. It was a very hot day and things did run a little behind due to our post ceremony photos outside at nearby locations...she was very good at making me feel that everything was ok. And it was. Everyone absolutely loved the venue and food and the reports were nothing but positive. It was a great day!! Thank you so much Elyssa and her FFT team!! I highly...
Read moreWe could not have had a better experience with Food For Thought for our wedding. They started as "just" our catering vendor, but we had such an amazing experience with Kacilynn, that we upgraded to their event planning as well. Every step of the experience was stellar from start to finish to now, even a month after the wedding.
Let's start with the food. It was INCREDIBLE. Our tasting was customized to our likes and tastes and we had a difficult time narrowing it down, because it was all SO GOOD. The service, day of, was perfection. We had passed hors d'oeuvres, a perfect plated dinner, and dessert and late night PASSED THRU THE DANCE FLOOR. Iconic. FFT had excellent props to really elevate the food experience.
Next, the design. Very few people care about linens and tableware as much as I do and I think they all work for FFT. We got to see all the options in house. Getting to play around and feel every tablecloth, fork, and water goblet was an amazing experience. The team also took every single one of my crazy ideas in stride. No detail was too big or too small for FFT.
Finally, the PEOPLE. Kacilynn was TRULY my girl through it all. We planned this wedding for almost 2 years and she was by our side every step of the way. She really GOT me, my vision, my communication style, everything. Kaci and I were on the same page from the get go, which made wedding day an even better experience. I was truly calm because I knew she would have any issue under control. All of the staff day of was also incredible, especially our personal waiter, Diego!
I can't recommend FFT enough. You seriously will not regret it. THANK...
Read moreWe are so thrilled that we chose to go with Food for Thought for our August wedding! We got married at the Chicago Cultural Center, and while the venue has a number of preferred caterers, FFT was the one on that list that stood out to us. From the first phone call to the final calls and emails, they were so easy to communicate and plan with. Many of our guests said that this was the best food they've had at a wedding, and we agree we them! The hors d'oeuvres, salads, entrees, and custom drinks were all so delicious; everything turned out perfectly. I also want to give a HUGE shoutout to Kacilynn, who was the one responsible for planning, organizing, and executing everything for us. When we met her for the tasting, she happily answered all of our questions and was just so fun to talk and work with. I had countless questions and updates throughout the planning process, especially in the final weeks, and she was responsive to everything. One special thing she helped with was the champagne flutes; I had thrifted, cleaned, and packed over 100 champagne flutes for guests to use and take home, and I had been nervous this would be a burden to them to deal with, but she assured me that it could be done. She took the time to help me decide on a display option for them, and her team cleaned them before and after the event and packed away any leftover flutes. Her attention to detail and her ability to pull everything together seamlessly is truly unmatched. We are beyond grateful to Kacilynn, her team, and everyone else at Food for Thought for making the food and drinks a true highlight of...
