I forgot to post this then, so I’ll do it now… My wife and I went to Nuovo in Chicago, a while back, and omg was it delicious! First of all, really nice place, great ambiance, perfect for a date night. They have indoor and outdoor seating, though the inside is beautiful, so I recommend it. My wife got the tuna tartare as an appetizer, which I kept picking at, since it was the best tuna tartare I’ve had. I generally like tuna tartare, but don’t love it, though I absolutely loved theirs (great chips too)! She also got the gnocchi, which was similarly delicious. It had heirloom cherry tomatoes and basil, was in a red pomodoro sauce, which had such a good flavor, and had cubes of mozzarella (which looked nice, and tasted good, though neither of us thought it really added much to the overall taste of the dish). I got the tagliatelle and the truffle pizza, which we both loved! The truffle pizza was very reminiscent of the Funghi pizza at Cork And Slice (which is a really good thing). It had cremini mushrooms, parmesan sauce, chives and truffle oil, and was absolute perfection. The tagliatelle also had cremini mushrooms, truffle parmesan cream sauce, roasted wild mushrooms and pea shoots (which I gave to my wife). It was creamy, flavorful and also had that wonderful mushroom/truffle taste (I guess I was in a mushroom mood 🤷🏻♂️). We also got some sort of a mocha drink (forgot what it was called, and it’s not on the website), which was good, but not so much our thing. We ordered a lot, so we had plenty of leftovers, which I was thrilled about, as I got to eat it for lunch and then again for dinner on the plane the next day. The prices were also really reasonable, not overly expensive for an upscale dairy restaurant. The waitress was extremely friendly and attentive, and we were able to pay the bill using a QR code, which I’m sure is not unique to here, but it was the first time I saw it and was really convenient and cool. All in all, amazing experience at Nuovo Chicago and I highly...
Read moreWe had a great time tonight at Nuovo Chicago .First of all, it is an absolutely beautiful venue. Ahron Trachtman designed a space with high end finishes while still preserving comfort and coziness. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly although the whole experience feels upscale. The manager Patricia Kozina is all about customer service and greets every guest with a smile. The incredible chef Juan iRamirez takes pride in each dish he creates. He was in and out if the open kitchen chatting with patrons and talking about his passion for italian cuisine. The food is extraordinarily fresh and very flavorful. Chef Juan shared that he uses top quality simple ingredients and uses techniques datinng back 200 years. The service was impeccable. Dare I say it was too good?! We were checked on frequently and the food was brought out quickly. Now for the actual food review- truffle mac and cheese was an ooey gooey cheesy delight. Its listed as an appetizer but would be a great main dish for a kiddo. The truffle fries were served with a dipping aioli that added so much to the dish. The pizza crust is exactly what pizza dreams are made of. It was no too doughy or thick but sturdy enough to hold the toppings. It had a chewy bite but still crisp crust. The cheese pizza had goat cheese on it which is definitely not standard. Anything goat cheese is too gamey for me but it totally worked here. Both pasta dishes we had were made with the freshest homemade pasta and presented beautifully. I asked our server to surprise me with her favorite cocktail and She brought over a “flamingo”- it was seriously the best balanced drink I’ve ever had. Dessert was my favorite part. The trio of crem brûlée and authentic tiramisu were a party in my mouth. Smooth, rich, creamy- totally decadent. I would totally sit at the bar with just a drink and dessert for a cheaper date night although everything was very well priced. Bottom line- check them out! You won’t be...
Read moreThe food is good, the atmosphere is nice, service was good. The issue is, do I belive the price is reasonable for what I'm getting? mmm not really. And I know they justify by saying it's kosher, but it's not cause other places are kosher and are less, they can say because of ingredients, but they are not expensive ingredients, I mean the mushroom pizza had common mushrooms so not sure why a tiny pizza cost $25 (after tax and 20% tip that they make you pay your paying about $30) I have gone to places like Cafe Noir in florida, their white truffle pizza is $15 for the 10 inch and $23 for 16 inch they put more expensive mushrooms, truffle oil, fresh buffalo cheese etc, and they are the same kind of high level kosher milk restaurant. Also if you are charging so much and you are making a high class restaurant, then atleast bring some bread or something for clients while their food is being made, it would make a difference in the experience and wouldn't cost you more than $1 cause you guys make your own dough, and people wouldn't starve while waiting 3 15-30min for a pasta or pizza to come out. I will tell you,the pesto pizza was good, worth the price? Mmm don't think so, I think I would have to think twice before coming back and most probably would end up in Tel aviv pizza or chalavi. As a one time experience and cause it was the only place opened after 9 it was ok., would I purposely go again as a choice with the few other places like Emma's, sandwich club, Ej's. Nope. You guys are starting out so I bet you will slowly take in the constructive criticism I'm giving you. Hatzlacha, you're in...
