Big Boss Burritos — Restaurant in Norfolk

This place is very cute and convenient. Good food and good service. Im not from here but just passing through and stayed at the hotel about less than quarter mile up the street.

My only issue here was about an employee. October 12 2025 around 12 noon (receipt said Mylie B). Not 100 percent certain this is the person that I had this experience with.

I walked into the restaurant to pay for my pickup order.

My bill was 33 and change.. I handed the lady (white about maybe 25/ 30 or so) 2 twenty dollar bills and waited for my change.

She paused and then asked if i wanted my change. I said, "change as in coins". I thought she was low on coins and was asking if I really needed the coin. She said ,"your change, do you want your change". I said, " if you mean the coins, no, I dont need that but if you are referring to THE REST OF MY MONEY BACK, then yes, I do want my "change back".

That was so inappropriate for her to ask a customer if they wanted their change back. If a customer is giving you a tip, you allow them to initiate it. If I had eaten there as a dine in, it would have been a little easier to digest "no pun intended" .. if she had asked if I wanted any change back. Even then, you still don't ask anything like that. Its just in bad taste.

But considering the fact that she didn't provide a service. She literally just rang me up and thought it was appropriate to ask if she could have my almost 7 dollars for just ringing me up smh. I was really offended. But I certainly don't hold this against the restaurant. A place of establishment can not control every little thing their employees do.

These guys are amazing I went there with my son today ordered 2 dinners to go ..I live literally around the corner, we get home and I was missing just a side order so I called just to let them know, the waitress gets the manager on the phone, super cool dude, I let him know they forgot something ..he totally showed genuine concern even tho, to me it wasn't a big deal. asked me if I wanted anything else or if I wanted a refund on the order! I told him I appreciate that but he didn't have to do all that, he told me to come on back he would have it ready for me ..when I got back both waitress greatest me at the door both apologizing and had not only what they forgot but also another entire entree and let me know they saved my phone number so next time I called my next dinner was discounted as well .. I was blown away by how awesome these guys all are. and the food, is super authentic and absolutely delicious .. 5 stars all around ..super glad they in the neighborhood now. I've seen at least 3 others that tried opening restaurants in this location Big bOss Burritos is in ...NOONE LASTED LONG. My husband got a Big Boss burrito last week, and he said it matched a California burrito, complete with fries, which is hard to find. He absolutely loved it! But...

Since he loved it so much, I wanted to go out for dinner tonight and give it a try, too.

I ordered a taco salad, which said it came with rice, beans, pico. None of those items were in my salad. It came with a ton of ground beef, which was very bland (no taco flavor AT ALL) and dry, sour cream, cheese, and lettuce. (I'm sure the new owner would like to know this, since rice and beans are cheaper than a ton of meat).

The taco shell, itself, was crisp and tasty. Everything else? 0 out of 10. I couldn't eat it.

My husband ordered the Big Boss burrito based on his first experience. There were no fries. He said it was still good enough, but was disappointed items were missing that make it one of his favorite burritos. Not to mention, these items are things we both looked forward to having in our meals.
