I used to be an avid fan of Fat Philly's. Lately, however, the service has gone from acceptable to intolerable.
Most recently, I went in for a breakfast sandwich. Just before 11am, there were still breakfast items (eggs, bacon, toast, etc.) visible and sizzling on the grill. Ordered up my breakfast sandwich, only to have the cashier try and tell me they don't have breakfast any more. Funny... especially since I've gotten omelettes there at 2:30 in the afternoon before. When confronted with this, the cashier hemmed and hawed and provided no explanation, that is, until I told him "forget it" and began to walk away. At which point, he calls out an attempt at an explanation, claiming that he couldn't serve breakfast because the items on the grill WERE FOR HIM.
Really? Exactly how long does it take to crack an egg and fry it up on an already-hot grill? Significantly less time than it takes to prep a cheeseburger, I'll tell you what for free. Furthermore, if the entirety of the breakfast items on the grill were for the cashier alone, then someone needs to reconsider their...
Read moreYou wouldn’t think it due to the look of the place. But this grill/deli inside a convenience store is actually some of the best philly cheese steak sandwiches you can get in the area. They use quality meat that isn’t overly greasy and it’s spiced right, combined with the bread which is a proper Italian roll (hard crust warm soft middle) this sandwich is exactly what you’d expect in a cheese steak. And the price is actually really good too. After tax for a foot long fries and a drink it came out to $10 even. I’ve had it a number of times now and plan to make it a regular thing. The only negative things I’d say about the place is one of the guys seems to be rude (like in a New York standard way) and the place being a convenience store seems to draw some ghetto trash from the area. But neither are enough of a bother to...
Read moreThe food is excellent but don't expect much customer service. The older "gentleman" in particular. He was rude over the phone when I placed my order and he was rude when I came to pick it up. Didn't acknowledge me as I stood 2 feet in front of him waiting to pay. Even after the younger (more polite) man instructed him to provide service, he just walked away. This is very rude behavior, especially during times in which customer service can now "make or break" a business. This was not my only rude encounter with this place, I've decided not to give my business to them anymore. It truly is a shame since their food is so good but I'd rather spend my hard-earned money where I am more...
