The atmosphere is great and the food is good but the service isn't the best.
Starting off with the service, there is a sign that says wait to be seated. You will wait forever without being greeted. This happened to me multiple times so I just went to sit down. The waitress Ms. Comfort has to be the worse. She checked on others but I can tell you both times I went I had to get her attention the entire time besides when asking for a the check. She made sure she gave that to me shorty after sitting down. I left a comment card telling them they can look at the cameras to see how her service was towards me both nights . The young man Landon tried fixing the issue and helped afterwards so I was grateful for that but he tried to blame it on being busy when it wasn't very busy. Many seats open. I also heard him tell her I was leaving a bad comment card . Which I didn't care but that's not good customer service.
I wanted a menu because I had to little children with me that don't eat a lot so I would rather order off the menu versus the paying for the whole buffet. She never came bck to take my order after I had to get my own menu ( she said she would bring me one) so I just settled with the buffet.

They seem to get overwhelmed by so little so maybe they are new to the customer service and serving world .
On a good note: Breakfast buffet is the normal hotel buffet food but it's still good. So far the happy hour menu and the dinner menu have been great. I've had the old bay wings, the burgers and the crab cakes . All were great!
If you want to stay here and want good food I'll recommend but if you want good service...
Read moreUpon staying at the Hilton DoubleTree, I was surprised by how well everything looked after their renovations. The front desk staff is phenomenal and was a pleasure to deal with, however things went south upon entering The Landing. I'll keep this short, so to summarize:
As a former restaurant manager, I'm baffled by how any of this goes unchecked. Especially for a restaurant hotel by Hilton. You're better off spending your $15 credit at the hotel...

I am a Hilton diamond member I am accustomed to good eats at Hilton properties such as the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills. The (crash) landing “bistro” food is AWFUL. After my 20 night stay in APR-MAY 2025, I tried 90% of the menu items. Not one item receives more than a 4/10. Whether it’s dry, grade F steak or frozen cucumbers in a wilted garden salad, or even “beef” short rib tougher than most grown men. Each dish is worse than the next. Truly I have never been so disappointed. Even with the diamond food credit I felt cheated of my money. The silver lining of the (crash) landing “bistro” is that I was able (FORCED) to explore Norfolk in a scavenge for food as my inability to keep down powered mashed potatoes and cold hushpuppies left me famished TIME AND TIME AND TIME again. The servers and cooks are exceptional people and it is wholeheartedly evident that they are victims of the old saying “you can’t turn dog poop into a wedding cake”.
DO NOT. SPEND MONEY HERE, DO. NOT. DO. IT.
