If you haven't been to a 99's before, think the same caliber as TGI Fridays, Chili's, Applebee's, etc. It's the same quality of food, geared towards steakhouse and comfort food type dishes. Honestly, to me, it feels like most of their meals are pre-prepared, pulled from a freezer and flash cooked. But I feel the same way about the other restaurants I mentioned above, I don't think any of them are particularly special. Mass produced stuff, the same at every location across the country. I guess the thing they've got going for them is familiarity...whether it's a 99's in Maine or Florida, your dish is likely going to be almost identical regardless of where you order it. Considering it really seems like most of their food came from the freezer, I can't say I'm thrilled to eat it but it works and is better than fast food, a little. I'd consider these type of places pretty much the McDonald's or Burger King of low/mid range sit down family restaurants. Don't bother ordering real drinks here, they're so watered down you basically get a soda with a splash of booze, for like $7-9, so I'd avoid and go elsewhere for drinks! It'd cost you $150 to get the same effect as you would off of a few drinks from any local private owned bar. Atmosphere is familiar, always very similar between locations. Altogether, it's not bad food, but if there are enough options I'd likely choose somewhere else. Really comes down to what your tastes are, and what you're craving! Personally, I tend to look for non-chain restaurants, where they have original, imaginative dishes and not many locations. I feel they care more about what they're giving you, rather than just move em in, move em out, which is what 99's is. I prefer to get the best quality for the money I'm spending, which doesn't often lead me to this...
