Honestly, this location deserves to have no stars overall, and given its location, ti should be a gold mine, but the owner is too obstinate and stubborn. I had a coupon I wanted to utilize for a $7.99 footlong, and the owner looked at it as if he was inspecting a license that turned out to be fraudulent. After 30 seconds, he decided to tell me that he doesn't take coupons and that I should go to Wal-Mart to do it. The fact that the owner is not accepting a coupons underlies a bigger problem that Subway is having in which it is allowing its owners to be independent and not accept coupons, especially if there is only one person manning the store, which is a recipe for disaster or even worse a robbery. Let's be frank: no question times are tough and prices are extremely exorbitant, especially for sandwiches, and coupon for $7.99 is a welcome reprieve. This was not the first location that has denied me and the owner left me so embarrassed and shamed me like he wants people to pay top price and he has no remorse for anyone financial condition. Let me advise this, especially if anyone lives in the Avalon apartments: stay away from this location. If you have to drive to Union City to get Subway, that is fine by me. In short, I ordered 2 monster footlongs with multiple toppings and sauce & 2 cold cut footlongs with various toppings as well. I can look past ~30 min wait during empty, non-rush hour. But each footlong was skimped so bad that they tasted like cardboard. No green onion, lettuce, parmesan, etcetc. I received email saying monster isnt supposed to have toppings other than steak, but that is only your location. Why accept higher price for Monster then? However, I contacted the restaurant to explain. The women named AL was so defensive when I was trying to explain that she had short changed me. She explained she has worked there for 20 years and she is not this type of person. I simply asked her to count the till to see if there was an overage. She said I will call back.
