Nice surprise on a quick stop today. Found this cozy Mexican restaurant doing a quick search and truly didn’t expect what we received. Went in at 11:30 for lunch and ordered from the menu. If you read the entire thing you get to know a real important secret about dining out.
Ordered the lunch steak fajitas and the lunch steak burrito with the Camino Real special sauce. Both lunch meals came with a side as it’s typical for Mexican restaurants. I had the rice with the steak burrito and the steak fajitas had the refried beans (loaded with cheesy goodness). I must say the burrito sauce was another cheesy surprise I was not expecting.
My burrito was loaded with steak, onions and peppers of all colors. I was satisfied with the steak amount inside the burrito. The flavor was as expected. Everything was cooked to almost a perfection seldom achieved by any human. Had it been perfect I feel I’d be meeting my demise soon enough for there would be nothing else for me to savor on this earth 😬. For real though, the food was relatively flavorful, the portion size bigger than any lunch portion you’d expect at any normal restaurant (except a MexRest).
The fajita lunch was also amazing both in presentation and flavor. Just look at the pictures! Oh and now about the cheesy goodness of the refried beans. I like cheese and I like beans. Some places will sprinkle some cheese on food like they had to make that dairy treasure themselves. Well the beans were loaded! I traded half my rice for half the beans. I’d say it was a fair trade since it was my treat for lunch. I could have just taken both the rice AND the beans 🤷🏻♂️ but I’m a fair guy.
Our server was on point with the extra napkins and so on. A small recognition for her here, her name is Delcia, and she took real good care of us.
The lunch menu prices are actual lunch menu prices. Q: Most importantly, how do you know a restaurant has great food? A: When you visit minutes before lunch rush, and at lunch time the place gets packed, literally packed with men and women hungry to enjoy their Mexican lunch favorites. If the place didn’t have good food, no matter how cheap, it wouldn’t get packed at lunch time. This place gets two 👍🏼👍🏼...
Read moreRepeat customer no more! Dont waste your time or money!! Came in there about 6pm tonight and ordered a frozen margarita with salt. I got one on the rocks and it had so much mix in it that it made it so bitter I couldn't drink it, $5 wasted already! the waitress didn't say anything rude but I didn't feel welcomed because she was short with her words and her facial expressions didn't make me feel invited at all. I ordered the parrilla and when it came the beans were good but very runny, the chicken was very thin and dry and the steak was burnt on one side( I didn't even try it) the waitress didn't even ask how I wanted it cooked so at that point I figured it wasn't going to be good. The queso dip had the consistency of milk. The best thing on the table was the chips and salsa and the 8 shrimp that was on my plate. I waited 10 mins after I was done eating for the tab which never came so I added up my meal rounded up and threw $30 on the table then finally the waitress rushed over and asked if i wanted a box! LMAO! REALLY? I told her "nah, yall can keep the steak, its burnt" turned around and walked out. I was a repeat customer and until today a big fan of that place. I will not be going back. El Cerro Grande has gotten this...
Read moreThis was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant, period. Me and my girlfriend both order fajitas. The hotplate was brought out and our waitress walked over to bar to dance and sing with her friend at the bar. After, 5 minutes I waved my hand and she very panicked ran in the kitchen and brought out rice and beans and walked away without a word to resume her party at the bar. Problem is she never brought tortillas. After another 5 minutes my girlfriend went and asked the bartender for tortillas. They took another 5 minutes to come out and our waitress was audibly screaming at the bartender in the kitchen. We told the bartender the food was now cold and needed to be remade. She explained that since no manager was present she could not get us new food or comp the food. She also refused to tell us when her manager was working again. This is the first time in my life I have left a restaurant without paying or taking a bite of food, but I really saw no other option. This place absolutely deserves to be out of business. Update: I called and spoke to the manager when he was a the restaurant. He stated that his employees did exactly correct, and that I was welcome to not come back. This place is a joke, spend you...
