I just had to share my thoughts on this diner. This was our second time their. We r locals and live in little river right down the road but very much got the impression, from our waitress, that we were not as welcomed as the shalotte locals. The food is good as small diners go. . It is tasty and hot. The owner takes a real interest and waitresses when it is busy. She is very warm and involved. So it being a Friday morning it is busier than usual which the girls handled beautifully. Our one big problem was this waitress. She was short with us and acted like it was an honor to be waited on by her. I asked if I could have a certain item in my omelette and I was told she couldn’t guarantee it because of food costs. Now who says that. If the item is costlier u charge me the difference. Well she stood there for 20-30/seconds and finally said do u want me to ask the cook. I wasn’t going to order something that may or may not contain what I wanted. Well after a bit she came back and said they could do. Of course they would do. Our food comes and she brings us our breads and I ask for butter instead of margarine. U would of thought I’d asked for her first born child. She gave me a look and finally said sure. I was not asking for anything out of the ordinary just basic service. This took place on July 9th , 2021 around 930. The waitress was wearing glasses with her hair pulled into a ponytail. We come to shalotte a lot . At least once a week . Just discovered this diner and enjoy the food but if that woman is not talked to the owner will have a real problem with her clientele. Tourists beware of this place. If u get this girl , if u r not a shalotte local she will not treat u very well..we still left her a 25% tip because we always do but she deserved...

Went at 1:30pm on Saturday march 1st..went in and asked if they were still open to a girl that was sweeping, she nodded her head like someone had died..didn't show me to a table just went back to sweeping..we sat down at a table, another woman came and put 2 menus and silverware on the table and still said absolutely nothing, didn't even make eye contact and turned around and walked away..another woman came and simply asked what do you want to drink..we said unsweetened tea she smiles and went to get the drinks..at this point we figured they didn't want us there because the place was totally empty and they were cleaning up...I don't think we'll be going back for sometime..If you want to close at 2pm then maybe you need to lock the doors at 1:30pm and turn off the lights, ya think? Seems if a person wants to spend good money and you are there to make money, you'd hire those that WANT to be there and be blessed to make some money..guess not! I read some of the reviews and read the responses from the "owner"..all I can say is WOW...talk about a childish person..the sheer unprofessional responses to people that do leave, that are most times emotional reviews...no apologies just smart mouthed responses...just with what I have read from you thats enough for me not to return..good luck with your business and your customer base..yer gonna need it....you want my number? I went in and got a waffle today and saw a roach. This is the 4th time I’ve seen a cockroach in this establishment. The employees are constantly on their phones showing one another videos. The restaurant it’s self is dirty every time I come in. The owner is never there he must not have pride in his own place of business. This place is trash and should get closed down for rats and roaches because you know if there’s roaches there’s definitely also rats. Edit So not denying the roaches or rats? That’s what I thought, because I know that you know it’s an issue. And yes the owner is never there which is why you took offense because I called you out on your bs. I returned to this establishment multiple times to try and give you a chance because you’ve responded to every bad review saying you’ll fix the issues but again I came to this restaurant 4 separate times and saw a cockroach every time. Your old self needs to call an exterminator before you step to me because NO ONE wants to eat where cockroaches crawl. For a business to be active and profitable you gotta pass a health inspection honey. I hope you carry one of those German Cockroaches home with you because you sure don’t care about your customers...
